Hi everyone, I am due to travel long haul over the Xmas period celebrating big birthday. I am due my rutuximab infusion in December which is maintenance infusion. My thoughts are would I be best to wait until I return in January. I now only take cotrimoxazole on a daily basis. Has anyone experienced similar?

Hi,

I was due my maintenance Rituximab infusion recently but my Rheumatologist advised me to delay it as I had only completed a course of anti viral drugs the week before following Covid.

I explained that I was going on holiday in a few weeks time and she said it would be fine to delay the infusion and have it after I return from holiday.

I don’t think there will be a problem in delaying yours until after your holiday but if you do I would suggest taking a supply of Prednisolone with you in case of a flare.

Thank you, yes I always take my Prednisolone just in case. I am just worried about a weakened immune system when travelling so far.

I have a similar long haul coming up in Oct/Nov but I'm still in Induction. Both kidney and blood specialists are ok for me to continue meds as normal (Endoxan and Pred) but need to send periodic blood tests to them and I'll be carrying extra injections of red and white blood cells in case needed. Plus a lot of backup Pred etc in case.

it’s all a worry isn’t it when being away from home but I am not going to let it stop me.
