Covid Risk Based Approach to Travelling Abroad

Hi everybody I just thought I would share this with you. Many questions often arise if going on holiday. And just over 12 months ago I was having my bloods done and asked my GP how they work out if CEV people are safe to travel abroad. She told me they do a point based risk assessment to determine the level of risk. She gave it to me but said I could publish the information but not the form as it has local copyright. It’s not perfect and you may think useless but just in case:

————————————————————————————————————————————-———————-

A/ Will you be using public transport to get to the Airport/ Hotel

Yes 1

No 0

B/ If flying is yourself or party seated independently? ( not sat next to anybody without gap)

Yes 0

No 1

C/ Has you accommodation been certified as Covid Safe or equivalent ?

Yes 0

No 1

D/ Does the Country you are visiting have at least a 50% Fully Vaccinated Rate?

Yes 0

No 1

E/ Does the Country you are visiting have an infection rate better than 1 in 50?

Yes 0

No 1

F/ When dining / socialising is outside seating available ?

Yes all the time 0

Yes some of the time 1

No 2

G/ Are masks Mandatory indoors in public places/ Transport

Yes everywhere indoors 0

Yes but only partially 1

No 2

—————————————————————————————-——————————————————————

Now if you total up your score from the 7 Questions you should fall within the following levels of risk.

0 - 3 Low Risk - Relatively Safe to Travel without taking any additional measures

4 - 6 Medium Risk - Travel approved but take additional precautions like mask wearing, social distancing etc.

7 -9 High risk - Avoid Travel

It isn’t perfect and I am sure there are other considerations and controls, however I am a qualified risk assessor and it works for me.

Nick

Thank you very much. That's really helpful information. And thanks to your GP for giving permission to share it 😀

thank you for sharing this , really helpful as I’m sure we will be living with Covid for quite a long time.

I guess for me it’s is treatment for Covid available ie antivirals. Your chart certainly helped in decision makings.

Thanks again

Hi Main1234 no problem. Sat in lounge at Newcastle for trip to Larnaca via London. Used the assessment and scores 1 (mask wearing some of the time) take care buddy. Nick.

it’s sort of a patronage, my family history (apart from me) is quite military and I have ticked off a long list of relatives who died on so called battlefields, it has taken me to France, Italy, Zululand, and now Cyprus. Only place left is the Falklands. Nick.
