Return to work with GPA

I'm due to return to work, as I am taking both Prednisolone and Azathioprine I'm in the high risk sector. I really don't feel safe in returning, but need to do something for financial reasons.

Has anyone met with the same concerns? Long term sick leave is an option but not an attractive one.

Keep safe all!

If you are taking AZA and prednisone I would have thought you would be under the shielding category.

Is your employer amenable as you could be furlonged rather than take sick pay as you are immune suppressed and need to take care.

I’m sure others will comment but hope you stay safe and well.

Hi Reidy WG, it’s a no brainer! Your health comes first. The Risk Assessment on the Vasculitis WS says if you are taking more than 10mg of Prednisolone and other Immune Suppressants you are High or Very High Risk. It’s easy for me to say and I don’t know what type of work you do, I agree with the first reply you should be furloughed. In March somebody who I know told me their husband who had recently recovered from illness after going through Immune Suppressive Drugs couldn’t afford to stop work because he couldn’t afford it, sadly Coronavirus took him. Please be careful!

Hi reidyWG

I’m in the same situation as yourself I’m a shielded patient due to immune suppression due to pred and mxt for my condition, being furloughed is best but depends on yr employer as mine is getting back with work,so he said I can only stay on that whilst there weren’t any work but there is now , so there will be your dilemma I can stay off work but receive no payment as there’s work now but il try and send you a link for the recent information regarding us , and it gives us a lot of protection now in the work place for us to resume work, and if the employer can’t do this then they can’t discrimate us within there business I hope this helps you
