Apixaban and WG

Hi,

Is there anyone else who has WG and has a blood clot that is taking apixaban?

If so can you drink alcohol or like all medications now do you have to stick to your recommended daily units?

Hi Haggiss,

I was diagnosed with WG in 2016 and had blood clots on lungs at the time. I now take apixaban. I like a pint and wine etc but now I have to keep this in check and acknowledge my limit is two pints of weak beer and avoid wine and spirits. With a few no-alcohol days per week. The alcohol hits me like a steam train and I suspect this is due to the blood thinners but I don’t know for sure.

But look on the bright side which is zero hangover in the past three years.

Cheers!

Cheers! Ado - pun intended. I only have 2 pints or equivalent on Friday & Saturday and drink nothing during the week. Sometimes I quite fancy a 3rd then I'll drop on to lime and soda. Like yourself I've never had a hangover for 5 years!

I think we deserve a medal! I’m going cycling in a while and I will have a pint after that.

Cheers back to you Haggis’s.
