Thinning skin

I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing thinning skin from being on prednisone? Also is it possible for your skin to get thicker once you're off or is the damage permanent???

You'll find lots of people who will share experiences about skin and pred on the PMRGCA community.

Many of us find not using soap but only emollient products such as Doublebase or Diprobase makes a big difference (available from Amazon even in the US). Foaming products just strip the natural oils from the skin and dry it out - if you do use any moisturise, moisturise, moisturise. Doctors will tell you it won't recover - many say it does as the dose reduces.

And several people have found these products help protect their arms and legs when gardening - protection is better than cure!

18 months after stopping prednisolone my skin seems a bit better. I use Aveeno oat soaps and moisturizer.

John’s skin very sadly became much thinner after years on the prednisolone. It did improve slightly when he was weaned off the prednisolone. We use recommended soaps and moisturisers as Zoe69 has mentioned above.

Oh, yes. Skin very fragile and thin ; very easily bruised and with purpura markings that come and go. You are not alone.
