This is my first time here and just trying to read all the post and responses so I can learn something each and everyone. My boyfriend was diagnosed with vasculitis a few months ago even though he had been struggling with it for the past 3 years but none of the doctors he was seeing knew enough about the disease that they though he was going insane. His problem is in his colon so many of the diagnosis were just random gut problem such as IBS and yeast overgrowth. Anytime he is on antibiotic his symptom became worse. It was through one of my midnight research that I came across vasculitis. I discussed it with his colorectal doctor and after going through my boyfriend's medical record and everything he has gone through sure enough he agreed with me. So this is where stand right now he is on prednisone low dose, nitro bid and pentoxyfylline 400 mg. He did improve for two months but now having problem again. I would appreciate any suggestions! Thank you so much!

Vasculitis
Hi Edgenius,
It is possible to get an isolated Vasculitis of the GI tract but it's very rare.
Systemic Vasculitis can affect the GI tract as well but there would usually be other organs affected.
It's not clear from your post on what basis the diagnosis of Vasculitis was made and what type of Vasculitis your partner has as there are over 18 different types. Did they have a positive blood test, biopsy or scan?
Although prednisolone is used to treat Vasculitis it's usually a high dose to start and it's almost never used by itself. Nitro bid and pentoxyfylline aren't medications that are used for Vasculitis as the treatment needed is immunosupressants.
Are you in the U.K.?
Does your partners Dr have experience of diagnosing and treating Vasculitis?
