War wound!!

Hey all,

This is what my wound looked like when I took the dressing Off yesterday late evening. I smelt something off, looked around the house & it was my bloody leg !!! So decided to clean it ! & redress the smell was sickening. Smelt rotten!

It was green & oozing thick goo, , it's also blistered round the edges where the skin was peeling the other day, I'm not sure if it was wise to clean it with DETOL.

I didn't have anything else, It said on the back of the humongous bottle that you can use it for scrapes grazes, cuts & in the bath for bad skin . I diluted it as it really stung !!

Only used a little with a clean ear bud,

I'm having my stitches out on Wednesday morning but they look like they've sunken into my skin this morning. This is a picture I took at 3am I was up with a pulse pounding in the area of my wound, As you can see I have some swelling on top of foot too.

I'm in the wars !!

I think if I had that I'd be down at the GP and asking for someone (preferably a nurse tbh) to look at it asap. It looks infected - and if it smells it almost certainly is. If the receptionist won't play, waft it under her nose. And if that doesn't work - A&E would not be OTT I think.

I've tried to get an appointment the last few days with my GP she's on holiday till the 14th July, no other doctor is available apparently. Only the nurse on Wednesday.

Off up to A&E at 6 for out of hours. Otherwise I've been told it's a 5 hour wait.

Been on antibiotics now for nearly a week. Think the infection is much deeper. I've been having so much pain with it & today the outer layer has gone numb.

My mum nearly fainted when she saw it she has a iron stomach normally !!

Of course - that assumes it is the right antibiotic...

Do tell me how you get on.

Do you have access to Emergency room or Urgent Care ? That doesn't look good. Looks likeCellulitis or possible MRSA in my opinion. I hope you feel better soon.

If it is MRSA that could be why it's not healing because antibiotics are resistant to kill the bacteria. PMRpro is right. I hope not though. But I think you need to see someone ASAP.

I would suggest going to emergency. I am a nurse, and I think as others have said you may be on the wrong antibiotic. May I ask why you have stitches? It is important that you have this addressed sooner than later.
