I'm off for just a 3 day trip to Europe so don't want to spend a fortune on holiday insurance!
Can anyone recommend a holiday insurance com... - Vasculitis UK
Can anyone recommend a holiday insurance company that will cover WG without charging the earth?
Try Freedom freedominsure.co.uk/ They will cover. I'm not sure what their prices are.
Virgin do a great deal .........one or two people have recommended them.
Just travel Insurance 08002315535 conditionscovered.co.uk
Post Office do a good deal too x
Good old Richard Branson ... I've just been quoted £28 for a single trip, European cover for both myself, my WG and my husband!!! Thank you!
Hi there i have WG and several other things wrong with me and i got a good price with Staysure Travel Insurance, they cover all sorts of illnesses and the form is easy to fill in on the website....
I have been insured by All Clear travel insurance, Direct Line travel insurance and also Lloyds TSB. Good Luck :0)
If you just want health cover, doesn't the European Health card take care of that - the one that gives reciprocal health care. Have a good trip.
I understand if you go to Europe and you are in reasonable health and you have an unexpected flare or relapse than maybe you would have cover....but if you go to Europe and you are not in reasonable health, or have just changed or reduced your medication, possibly not, it is better to be on the safe side.
I was told that I wouldn't be covered for WG with the card. What made mine high was being in hospital for overnight stays to have broncoscopies and an intensive care admission previously. I hope you get a good quote
Thanks everyone. I'm going with the Virgin quote which is more than reasonable.
I struggled to get any cover recently. But I think the problem for me was declaring all the additional problems that the vasculitis has caused (specifically an MI, anaemia, kidney disease & diabetes). You can almost hear the websites creaking as you start entering in all the details...
In the end the only place that would even quote me was GoodToGoInsurance. But they were in no way cheap - just a few days insurance for Europe cost more than the flight...
On the brighter side, my GP reckons that the price may go down in time since it's worse if you've had recent treatment, admissions and trips to A&E.
I would suggest world-first.co.uk/home/trav... as they specialise in medical travel insurance
I have holiday insurance inclusive with my NationWide account which covers ailments free of charge on a list which is identified either on the website or the form to fill in. However, I have 'mild' asthma, CSS (EGPA),a history of query cystitis, pneumonia (Or was it?), perforated eardrum and had a TIA in hospital when originally diagnosed over 5 years ago, each one of these added between £10 - £20 on the 'free' insurance for a skiing holiday 2 years ago (I didn't go). Furthermore if one is of a mature age, I'm 72, the cost increases!! While some add-on ailments are necessary, I'm sure others that add cost should be regarded as no charge (In some cases after an agreed period of time). It would be interesting to identify the criteria by which insurance companies grade 'extra cost' ailments and whether 'our' medical professionals agree. As we all know, if you do not include 'slightest illness' to the insurance company, who can get access to your medical documents for proof when a claim is made, they will use every ploy not to pay up. Having skied for many years I hope to have a ski holiday next January.
