Vascular clinic
Hi Yorkie369,
Is it a vascular clinic or vasculitis clinic you have been referred to? There is quite a difference between the 2.
If it is skin infections that aren't clearing it is much more likely to be a vascular clinic which will look at the blood supply to your legs than a vasculitis clinic which is concerned with inflammation in blood vessels all over the body. This forum is mostly or the second sort of need so people may not have much of an answer for you.
In a vascular clinic they will check pulses and blood pressures in your arms and legs including at the ankle. They will take a history of the problems you have had in the past and possibly ask you to walk on a treadmill to see if the blood supply is poor enough to affect your muscles. If the blood supply is being blocked somewhere the skin and tissues don't get enough oxygen and that means they don't heal well - just like a blocked pipe reduces the water flow to wherever it should be going.
But this may not be done on the day - the vascular specialist decides what he wants done and then you may need further appointments in the departments that do the various tests. Some only take a few minutes and can be done at the clinic, others are done in special laboratories and can take much longer.
