Hi I am looking for a support group in the D... - Vasculitis UK
Hi I am looking for a support group in the Durham/Newcastle area does anybody know if there is one thanks
No Mollie there isn't sorry, although I understand that there has been discussion but as far as I know nothing has been decided/arranged.
The nearest one, at the moment, is in York. There is one on 16th March, see:

Look on vasculitis.org.uk they have a list of local support groups with contact names and numbers. Great site for information about vasculitis all round.
Hi I live in the Newcastle area and we don't have any support groups , just in York that's to far for me to travel to
I live in Consett and its the same for me The travelling to York isn't an option for me at the moment as aside from vasculitis I work full time which is hard enough
I live in Murton County Durham and York is a bit far, it would be lovely to have one nearer.
I run the West Yorkshire support group and if anyone feels up to starting a group I would be happy to tell you how I went about it and offer you support. Lynne Jacques.
There is a support group in Gateshead for sufferers of PMR and GCA,PMRGCANE is address on internet.
We can start a support group in the North East as more and more people are coming forward from the Newcastle area who have been diagnosed with Vasculitis. It had been discussed last year. There is a family who are fundraising for VUK in Newcastle at the moment, I think with a little support we could get a group started this year. It would be small to start with... Would you been keen to join in ? Molliecatone . We have just given support to a brand new support group starting in Portsmouth in July, so it can be done.
yes I wold be keen to join in I think one in the area would be good as its nice y=to chat to people who understand what you are going through
Hi, I was wondering if it would be a good idea to see how many people in the Newcastle/Durham area to see if a group was viable. I would be glad to arrange an informal get together to start the ball rolling with a view to a group

Molliecatone, we can help.. ...there is some information here on the website.. vasculitis.org.uk/about/sta... there has been talk about starting a group before and we do know quite a few people in the Newcastle area with Vasculitis.
Susan
There are only about 12 actual members listed in the Co Durham/Newcastle/Northumberland areas. There are probably a lot more who use this H/UL and the V-UK discussion site. If a group is started it might be necessary to try to enlist the help of the local hospital departments who you know deal with vasculitis patients asking them to advertise the group. When we started the South Yorkshire group we made contact with the local newspapers to give us a plug. Best thing is to liaise with Susan Mills if you want some help from V-UK to start the ball rolling.
