Docs have said daughters kidneys are leaking protein. & prior to her next dose of cyclophosphamide they have prescribed ramipril 2.5mg every evening for five days.
Has anybody suffered any side effects whilst on this ?

I take Ramipril as one of my heart meds (the CSS affected my heart). I'm on a 10mg daily dose split into two doses of 5mg (5mg in the morning and 5mg at night) so I don't think 2.5mg is going to have any adverse effects on your daughter. I am assuming she is an adult?
The only adverse effects I had whilst increasing my dosage (they like you to be on 10mg daily as an optimum dose) was a bit of dizziness/lightheadedness. This can be overcome if you split the dose over the day.
Hope this helps!
Hi berkshirebird - thanks for reply - my daughter is only 13 years old & was diagnosed with wegeners granulomatosis august this year.
I guess 2.5 mg is a small dose & I think the reason has been prescribed on a night is to overcome dizziness & lighthead mess.
So sorry to hear about your daughter contracting WG, especially at such a young age.
It might be that due to the damage done to her kidneys, her blood pressure is raised, causing the kidneys to become "leaky". The Ramipril will improve this by reducing her blood pressure. Like BB, I've been taking Ramipril for a long time and like your daughter, I have WG.
If you want any extra support or advice, please send me an email to john.mills@vasculitis.org.uk
Thanks John - so glad I came across this site & Vasculitus UK they are a great help.
Hi. Like BerkshireBird I take 10mg of Ramipril (also split into to 5mg doses) for my Vasculitis triggered heart condition. Apart from the possible light headedness it's not uncommon to get a dry "Ramipril" cough when taking the drug. I had it a bit at first but it soon wore off and I no longer have any side effect from Ramipril at all.
All the best,
Richard.
