My husband really needs this holiday as he both runs his own business and cares for me. I have got good insurance and easy holiday when there. Worried about passing this on. Really do not know what to do.

I'd try to get an urgent appointment with GP and let him/her sort things out for you. You certainly don't want to be travelling to foreign parts with a tummy bug.

Having just got over a nasty dose of gastro enteritis, I sympathise! I also agree with PatriciaAnn, see your doctor and find out just what it is you have. He will maybe test a stool sample to be sure.

The advice is usually to eat small amounts of bland foods when you feel you can and to drink plenty of non alcoholic fluids, water being recommended (not too much, though, as this will disturb the electrolyte balance in your blood). I found coca cola excellent in rehydrating and giving some energy. Was advised not to drink lucozade but can't remember why! You can also buy rehydrating salts at the chemist, these are excellent if this bug of yours goes on longer than a couple of days. You will feel pretty weak and tired, though. Your GP is the one to talk to, of course and his advice the one to follow.

I do hope it clears up before Saturday.

If ever I have an upset stomach and I'm going somewhere important, I take a Loperamide capsule (Hydrochloride). These are prescribed though so you would have to get a doc to issue a prescription.

I was given them a while back because I had the Norro virus. They work very well.

Thanks for all you posts. Have got the all clear to go as long as I am very careful with what I eat and rest plenty. Need to be extra vigilant, but we are self catering so hopefully this will be ok. So again thanks for advice and being there
