Woke Up this Morning to no Tinnitus! It Didn't Last Long Sadly.

I'm +6 months into my T journey, in truth I've stopped tracking the time as I learn to live with it.

I generally can get to sleep without white noise, though have a fan running anyway.

I woke up around 5am, and I had complete silence. I haven't had that for such a long time. I initially thought I'd gone deaf, but the low breathing of my partner confirmed that's not the case.

The total silence was actually a bit disconcerting, I'm just not used to it. It then became welcoming, wonderful.

Sadly as the day progresses the T is back to a small extent. But I hope I have some more silent mornings!

It's great when that happens - just enjoy it and be in that exquisite moment of peace. I get it about once a fortnight and it might last the day or at least until late afternoon. I use the day as much as possible.

However, after habituation to the T I now have the attitude that it can do what it wants - it doesn't effect my attitude to life and the things that I do.

Thank you for the response!

In fact I'd like to thank you personally. Back in November (or late Oct) I posted my first message on this forum in a desperate state. I was truly at my lowest point and thinking the worst, it all felt hopeless at that moment.

Your response was very helpful and made me feel much better. Thank for that!

I'm really glad to see you doing okay ghlla. Yes, when this first happens to us we are beside ourselves and fear the very worst is going to happen to us. We've all been there. You've got a few months now and resilience and acceptance will be building nicely - together they are two of the core ingredients of Habituation.

That having been said there's no excuses for not celebrating a moment of silence when it unexpectedly comes along. Wonderful isn't it?

Keep going - sounds like you're doing everything right. Do that and let a bit more time flow under it and you'll be right as rain.

Peace.

I first had what you had after I started taking Ginkgo (not daily). From it came gratitude but also some annoyance. I had been unconscious during some of the silence. I have since been taking the stuff (on dose day) starting 6pm. When the silence does come now, it kicks in around midday. Now unusual for tinnitus not to be there on waking.
