I just want to know if anyone has ever been cured from tinnitus either medically or via Holistic approach, recently came across a guy on Instagram @liam_stops_Tinnitus and he charges $697 to help achieve silence .. I’m quite desperate at this point and willing to do anything cos I’m an international student currently doing my masters and since I have had T I haven’t been able to concentrate properly on my studies, I’d appreciate any advice from here.
thank you.

I'm going to share advice from my learned friend and colleague Nic Wray, who knows a thing or two:
"There are many people who say they can help those living with tinnitus achieve silence - usually for a price. Some of these people use techniques and treatments that are ineffective, and at worst dangerous.
Some of these people use proven techniques - such as CBT, mindfulness and sound therapy. They still require you to put the work and effort in yourself, and given these techniques are all things that you can access for free or minimal cost, why not try a some self management first and see how it goes? It won't necessarily be quick or easy, but neither will working with a practitioner.
The Tinnitus UK website is a great place to find out more - I suggest our self help for tinnitus page as a starter
if you have any questions or would like support, you can email our team at helpline@tinnitus.co.uk or use the webchat function on tinnitus.co.uk between 10am and 4pm on weekdays."
Hi Olamilekan12.As far as tinnitus goes, I'm no expert, just someone who is two and a half years in with this torture. I've been a patient of one of Britain's top ENT Professors and he summed up the whole thing with, "The person who finds a cure for tinnitus will be an overnight billionaire."
I think Pat's advice is probably more sound than that of Liam stops T.
All he will do it offer you advice on what to do and give you things to try but you will have done all of them. To save you money use this site. Learn from other people's experiences and take it into your life. Tinnitus is a stress symptom and as you're a student and going through you masters, I can only imagine what that's doing.
My personal fix is having low playing music or podcast and try to focus on the music or podcast through the noise. That way you're training your brain to focus on specific noises and you will be able to control it more. Experiment with white noises. You just need to distract your brain.
The tinnitus sound, is caused by your brain realising or noticing there is fluids around your ears and its trying to mimic what it thinks it would sound like.
hi Olamilekan, I suggest using the Tinnitus Uk website. Distraction with low level background music will lessen you noticing the tinnitus. Avoid exposure to loud music or noises. All the best with your studies. Please don’t waste your money.
Hi Olamilekan12 I have spent the last 18 months on every "cure for tinnitus remedies, therapies, private consultants, you get the picture. For me it was my latest round of CBT when the lady said very bluntly but not in a hurtful way "There is NO cure for tinnitus, don't waste your money chasing the latest miracle cure, guarantee and promise because it is not out there" that I am starting to now accept it. Prior to that, it was anger at "why me" and not accepting what I have that was making me unhappy, desperate and angry. All I would say is some food, drink certainly make it spike and exposure to certain environments and sounds, loud rooms, music. I hope this helps.
watch out for these snakes selling us cures !!!! I tried every herb mentioned and nothing works. Sorry to say but there is no treatment so far or meds that can cure this ! Big Pharma don’t want to even think of making something cause there’s not enough money to be made it’s a shame !!! And I get so Angry every time I think about it ! So beware of these snake oil salesmen saying there found a cure !!!!
It used to be said that whomever comes up with a cure for male pattern baldness would end up the richest man on earth. I still believe that to be true. I also (now) believe that a cure for tinnitus individual won't be that far behind. Big Parma tempted?
Shysters prey on our misery, as they know we are desperate for anything to alleviate the endless torture. However, they are selling nothing but false hope. Keep your money in your pocket my friend.
I spent nearly £1000 years ago on chinese acupuncture . The lady assured me it would work, She said that she had "cured lots of people". Guess what ! no change at all . Waste of money .
I think we communicated before, so I've just this to add. There is no cure as such, but look out for the word 'alleviation'. It's all we have at the moment.
Tinnitus fluctuates for some people; it changes, it may go away, and it will probably come back. It's not a cure. At the moment I can hardly notice the tinnitus in my right ear, although the left is buzzing away as usual. It's not cured though and it will be back again probably later today. It may be reactive, better or worse. It's not cured. Learning to live with it using the advice you can find here is the best you can do. And for most of us, it's enough. We accommodate, we learn to function well with it. I am lucky enough that when I am engrossed in something I can forget about it for hours at a time.
Everything everyone else has said is true. There is no "Cure". Do NOT waste money. Instead, look at this from T-UK. Getting involved in research may help not only ease your symptoms but also turn your T in to a success for you and others.
Don’t waste your money hun it may get better over time but there is no cure I’m 2 years in this nightmare I found it got really bad at one point but I think I’m starting to get used to it a bit now I know it’s hard but it’s best to try to ignore it I certainly wouldn’t spend any money you can find a few things on the internet that might help and it’s free . Hope that helps .
