Thoughts and Feedback on the Oto App?

Hi folks,

I'm considering trying out this app on my phone. Though I was a tad surprised to see their pricing structure for the premium offering!

Has anyone used the app, including the premium stuff? Is it worth a try?

All feedback welcome.

Hi.

I was also thinking about signing up for this app. I wonder if anyone can offer any advice? Sorry I can't answer your question. If I do end up joining I will post on here.

I bought Oto in December last year and have found it very useful. I use the different relaxation and breathing exercises every day. In the beginning I used it as a distraction as you can listen to the units at your pace, I listened to 2 a day and finished it around a month ago. It has things you can listen to at night that have really helped me to get back to sleep. I think you have to keep going with it to feel the benefits and at the beginning I was a bit skeptical. However I use it all the time now, especially when I’m having a bad day as it reassures you that you are not alone and you can get better.

Thank you.

I think I might give it a try, willing to try anything to learn to live with T I guess. I find the Calm app very good for some of the things you mention, and is cheaper. But of course it's not centred around T itself.

Hi ghlla, I'm worried that you may waste your money unless you are wealthy, as no "app" will cure anything. There are plenty of "Tinnitus" relaxation sound files available free of charge on the internet, which help as background sound while you're awake.

Just search for tinnitus relaxation or sounds something, perhaps you have already.

I'm sure you have already learned that there is no "cure" for tinnitus itself if you have damaged ears. But it can be caused by something such as an infection which can get better, or head aches/migraines, or a head/neck/spine or other injury which can be healed.

And don't forget that T can be caused by an emotional/phycological issue as well. If you are fearful of something, or very worried, T can occur. But T can be a vicious circle, where your nervous system over listens due to an unconsciously perceived threat such as tinnitus.

I paid for the basic level oto app for about 6 months when I first started with T. This was about £10 a month at the time. I found the reassurance that I was not alone that it gave was useful at the time. Hope this helps.
