Regain Hearing Tinnitus Device

Hi -

Having struggled with tinnitus for several years, in the last few months it has really accelerated which led me to visit a local company - Regain Hearing - to see what they could offer. I had over an hours assessment and came away having bought one of their 'premium products ' - a Signia hearing aid with a Tinnitus setting.

The idea is you turn on the white-noise/static Tinnitus setting twice a day and then use the hearing aid setting the rest of the time.

I'm a few weeks in using them and I've not seen any improvements yet...

Anyone else use these/have experience of them? I'd be keen to hear from you.

I have a 60 Day money-back guarantee which I'm considering using...

Thanks!

Sorry to hear you’re suffering, I’ve got NHS hearing aids with a masking setting on them, I don’t use the masking setting, didn’t do anything for me, hearing aids help a bit, but I’m afraid nothing really works.

What did your Hearing Tests results show ? & As it may take a lot longer than 60 Days for your brain to adjust to them.

I have used Regain Hearing & have found them a great company, With numerous appointments & follow up treatments without charge, As that is in with the premium hearing aid care package which is expensive to start of with.

My tinnitus is quite stubborn & I have some hearing loss shown on the graph, But, Not much around 8,000hz. My tinnitus is at the 12,000hz level & is really annoying, Nothing masks it out at that level, Except for the hearing aids with the masking on. I use various sea waves sounds.

I also have the Signia hearing aids, I was also going to get my money back, But, I Decided to stay with them, As they also offer aftercare for life & my tinnitus is quite brutal every minute.

However, Some people do find thier brain adjusts to it after a few months use, If you look at Treble Health & a lot of feedback they have. It can take more time. If you do also have hearing loss, Your brain will slowly adjust to it and it should dampen down the tinnitus, But, Also not for everyone.

I often use the masking sounds to try and silence mine out, Although, During the day, I am playing bird songs, You can also use crickets thru the Bluetooth from my mobile phone to the Signia hearing Aids, This relaxes my brain a little bit, So I don't notice it or as much, Sometimes I do actually have some silence, Although, If I take the hearing aids, My brain will detect no masking or bird tweeting & I can then hear the tinnitus.

The hearing aids are boosted where my hearing loss is, I have not noticed much difference to my tinnitus level when sleeping & I am about 8 Months in with them. I have had quite a lot of follow up appointments since & they have been over helpful in trying to reduce the tinnitus, I have also had extra long appointments with the consultants & long chats with Lee the owner as well in trying to resolve my tinnitus, I do think they went out of their way on a few occasions & their was also no rush with them.

It maybe that my brain needs more time to adjust to them, As I age, My hearing will also deteriorate, So they may need adjusting or my brain may also adjust with it over the next few years.

It really depends on what your hearing tests results also show & how tricky your tinnitus is, You could get your money back or you could stick with them, Knowing they will provide you with support for life.

When I first visited them, I was really stressed out with it & had numerous free after care appointments which helped a lot in calming my anxiety & all the questions I had from it.

I have found Regain Hearing to be really supportive & in they way they respond each time & at each appointment since, So you also need to consider if you do get a refund & you have other or future hearing issues, In what you do next, As they often go out of thier way to help & it maybe that in a few more months time, Your tinnitus & brain will adapt to the hearing aids and you will notice the tinnitus less. Although, As above, This applies to your hearing test and what the issues are. Lee the owner has a lot of experience & passion & I also found the other consultants do as well.

I accept the hearing aid package is expensive & even with a few months in, I am glad I didn't go for the 60Day money back & am sticking with them & my hearing aids as we move forward in working on a solution for myself as well.

My tinnitus is also at the high level 12,000hz & Signia is also the only hearing aids that provide masking at that level. I still use it to calm my brain out when I need it, So in some ways they do help me, Even if the original tinnitus level is never fixed or lowered, My brain is then slightly calmer afterwards.

Have you had any appointments with Lee, The owner of Regain hearing ? If not, Then you should book a follow up with him & discuss the options. The 60 Day money back is good & they do honour it, But, Your brain may need more time to adjust & then you will notice the difference, More so if you do have a lot of hearing damage & loss & then can tweak the settings a lot more to boost it up quite a bit & this may also make more difference, As 60 days is not really enough time to get used to them if your tinnitus is stubborn & you have a slight hearing loss. Other factors as high blood pressure could also be causing an increase that may also go down in time. Although, I don't know what your hearing tests results were, As if you have hearing loss, Then in reality you do need hearing aids, Even, If you think it don't make any difference, It is sort of working without you noticing it straight away.

I had my tinnitus from 18 Years old, from visiting a nightclub, The first time I went out to a club, I got it, None of my friends had it. It was easily masked with a fan or background noise, Then it went up a little bit at 40 years old & again around 45 & then more at 50 years old. I also have had car alarms, Sirens & loud noise in the past form my job from school cutting metal, So I may also have done a lot of damage from the early years that then comes out later on in life.

I am now 51. It was quiet for years, Then 13 months ago, It trebled in loudness, Not even a TV can mute it out, Unless I have it above 70 decibels. I think traffic noise & blasting car horns, As I used to cycle a lot, Caused my tinnitus level to explode in loudness & I think I did get some extra damage from traffic noise causing wear & tear on my hearing & then the tinnitus from hearing loss & natural aging. The hearing aids are supposed to work, But, It is taking some time with me, Although, As above, I have also watched a lot of videos online & many people have success with them, So, I am still ploughing on.

As I typed this, I was playing Birds Tweeting thru my hearing aids & I didn't notice my tinnitus.

Tinnitus will often never go away if there is some hearing damage, You have to get the brain to adapt to it, It isn't easy, Hearing Aids & with the Masking are the best option to try and help make some difference.

I would book a follow appointment with Lee the owner & then ask him if he can adjust some settings & chat thru a action plan, He has a lot of experience & has been doing it for well over 18-20+ Years , So it will also be very hard to find other companies around with similar experience, There is a few, But, Not many out there or around & many are hundreds of miles away up north & any other company is not going to magically fix it differently.

It is free after care for life & some people are still with them 10 years on with free aftercare appointments when ever they need them.

I also did my research at the time & felt Regain Hearing was the best company around that suited my needs and it has been since, Even thou my tinnitus is still around, The support thru some tough periods & anxiety has been really good with them.

Good Luck

I am Golfeur's wife, he wanted to reply for me but it's better if it comes from me. I have had pulsatile tinnitus for over 20 years I used to have it with migraine attacks but 20 + years ago I had a severe migraine hubby wanted to take me to the ER but I was too sick. 2 days after the migraine receded but the tinnitus took residence, After that episode, I stopped having head pain with migraines up until now but I have a million crickets living in my head and they partied days and nights. I never had a silent moment after that day. +20 years of noise. There are days when I want to do bad things but have to think about the family. I tried all that is possible with the medical world I had a CAT scan and the dr. said there was nothing there........consolation, is my head empty? There is only one positive about pulsatile tinnitus with each heartbeat, I know I am still alive. Not a moment of silence I would give a lot for just a day, an hour. I manage to live with it, I guess my brain is getting used to the noise, sometimes it wakes me up during the night but it is less and less, If I force advance my lower jaw it fades the noise but it's not pretty and not comfortable, my dentist fitted me with an appliance which was doing a bit of advancing my jaw for at night but it did lose its advantage in few days. So, listening to crickets noise to mask mine is out of question for me. I even hear them in noisy situations like street construction with big machines. I manage to get asleep by putting a pillow under my neck and extending it, if I fall asleep I might be fine for few hours. My BP is kind of strange too I am treated for it but it does not get to normal, It is normal in am, 113/69 but hight at night 150+/70 I do not want to take more medication I am on 2 different ones I also have fibromyalgia which is another chapter. I am still open to ideas to get the bugs out of my head other than using a knitting needle and getting at them.

I also have chronic fatigue & fibromyalgia type exhaustion often. I have had a period or really bad migraines & serious dizzy spells over the last few years & more recently. My C.T. Scan came back clear & the NHS refuse to do a MRI Scan. Although, For most people, it often comes back clear & then we are told it is in the head.

No Meds work for me to reduce it, Except for some meds help me sleep. The migraine debate has come up a few times, I have some other meds I want to try and then I am going to try some Migraine Meds from the doctors to see if that will reduce mine a little bit, As my tinnitus seems amplified, Yet, My hearing loss is barely anything & it is also at the high frequency.

I try not to focus on mine too much, But, It still seems like I also have serious exhaustion, So I am not sure if anything else is going on. My blood pressure has been very high & I have taken meds to reduce it.

When I did have the covid Jab, My tinnitus increased & so did the fatigue, There is a lot of debate online about if the Covid jab also causes issues to Tinnitus & a lot of people seem to think it does damage thru the blood vessels & other things with the brain.

The annoying thing is I have never really had peace or silence and tinnitus since 18 & all my friends have never had it & the Job Centre refuses to accept how debilitating it is & the constant threats from them to stop the benefits & force people to work.

I do think my tinnitus comes from my hearing, But, Also there must be something in the brain that is on high alert all the time that causes a lot of it or the amplification of it. Other people have high blood pressure causing it & others it is migraines. So I am going to try some Migraine Meds in the future, As some professors doing research seem to suggest it can work for some people to help reduce the tinnitus level, If I can get it a bit lower, It makes it easier to relax as background noise will not mask it out anymore like it did many years before covid as well.

thanks for the info - really useful

I have Bilateral Menieres ,Bilateral tinnitus and Bilateral 80db hearing loss.I wear hearing aids with 3 settings

Setting 1 is just for giving me back what I've lost .

2 does the same as 1 with the sound of the sea added.

3.does the same as 1 and pink noise added.

So basically I use what I find helps me at any time.

My tinnitus is severe and very high so night times are hard going but I have found a amazing app on my phone for night time.

I hope your hearing aids help you too .

Take care

Glynis
