Hi, I also have tinnitus for 8 years like you and it became more intense in April. Like I cried every day for a few days and I was coping really hard for 2 months but kept forcing myself to be active and go outside as much as possible and socialise (even when I didn't feel like it). I also prayed (not sure if you are religious), out of like 30+ sounds on my white noise machine only one sort of drowns out my sound. But keeping busy helped me stay sane. I also feel pulsating in my left ear when laying down on the left side. I am waiting for my ENT appointment in October and on the waiting list for oral surgery appointment to see if my TMJ made my tinnitus worse. I have it in both ears (head). I also find it helpful reading stories about others especially celebrities, it makes me feel less alone. I hope this helps

Hi Sean,Well first and foremost you should feel proud that you have managed it for as long as 8 years. It is very personal to everyone and some people seem to suffer worse than others. The same applies to tips and techniques which you will find here as there is a wealth of support here and good people who are in the same boat.
You must be familiar with what triggers your spikes and what soothes or reduces it. I have MrT as I call it for nearly 3 months and seem to be coping. I am waiting for CBT and do a lot of walking meditation as well as mindfulness. It triggered my anxiety so staying focused on remaining calm really helps as well as classic FM. I prepare my room for sleep 2 hours before . Google nest has a range of calming sounds that I can choose which is mainly ocean sounds. I have lavender diffuser and sometimes a fan on low setting.
You can always see your GP for help with medication to help you sleep . See it as short term till you have managed to regain a centre with it.
We all have good days and bad. I journal too which helps monitor and express my emotions about how this has changed and effected me on a daily basis.

I think that listening to Spotify 12 hour duration violet noise at low volume is worthwhile when sleeping Not through hearing aids but just on the phone
I think also googling Touchpoint wrist bands is worthwhile
have you tried white noise? We used it for my baby and got quite used to it. I’m not sure it will stop it waking you up (as it occasionally does me) but it might help drown it out once you’re aware
