a loud tone

hi. I’m new here. I have tinnitus in both ears. Both different. The one noise that causes me anxiety is a loud tone noise. Does anyone else who has this? There’s a list of standard noises but doesn’t mention a tone . It’s like when you have your ears tested by an audiologist and they play a tone. Thanks.

Yes,,I have different tones. The very high pitched one is constant, and has been for many years. Then I get a lower tone every now and then. Plus I get another tone in my left ear. When they are all playing it drives me mad. I am due an audiology test soon, and hope I get some answers.

I think many, if not most, tinnitus sufferers experience a constant tone, sometimes multiple tones. The pitch of the tone may determine how annoying it is and I think that constant tones are more difficult to deal with than more realistic noises, such as an engine noise or fan noise. Your brain should, to an extent, tune it out with time.

Yes, you can learn to tune out 😊.

I have a loud constant tone in my left ear . Sometimes there are clicks , squeaks . I then have a milder one in my right ear.

I am finding it hard to concentrate & to sleep. It is really bad if I am in a large room with lots of people.

I am trying to listen to white noise played at a low volume to help me concentrate at work.

Hello,

I have the same as you described. I had multiple noises in both ears for years. However the loud tone arrived after I was in a car accident in November last year. It’s in my right ear and sometimes feels as though it’s trying to bore its way into my head. I’d hoped to would go away after I recovered but it’s still there, 4 months on.

I have noticed that I am beginning to tolerate it more. It is just there, rather than feeling like it’s trying to get in. Sleep was and still is the hardest time to adjust to it.

I hope I am beginning to accept its presence but it is rather loud and makes hearing quite tricky.

I feel I have accepted the tone. It seems to be about acceptance and then it’s easier to refocus your thoughts. Trouble with me I have a noise in the left ear that I can hear all the time. It more a pulsating sound. Very stressful. I guess we have to acknowledge the anxiety it brings on and do our best to carry on trying to concentrate on everyday life. We can do this

I have all kinds of noises - and each ear different. Fortunately, I am able to see the funny side and the more irritating sounds don't last long (eg maybe a minute).

I get a loud tuning fork monotone sound, I get one or more spikes of this a day in my right ear. It lasts about two hours each time. Only two today so far...

Sometimes I get a spike which wakes me in the middle of the night 🤯

I am learning to go with it, but it is unpredictable and very annoying when it is louder than the TV.

Previous sounds were a low whistling, seeds popping and once, I got the washing machine kind. Last week, I had a low pulsatile for a short while. There are so many different sounds.
