I’ve had Tinnitus for many years but never as bad as it is right now
I have accepted that I have to live with T although I would dearly like for it to disappear….
I’ve suffered since May with loud tinnitus throughout my head, on occasion I have a more liveable loud noise. I can only recommend to distract yourself by putting your thoughts into a hobby or walking in the fresh air better if there is a slight breeze, perhaps talking and meeting people if you can.
I mean they are talking about humans going to the moon, yet we cannot have a cure for tinnitus.
It’s a daily struggle for me at the moment, I know it will improve which it has done in the past, just have to carry on.

Sorry to read about the heightened level of tinnitus that you're experiencing at the moment. You're right to say that tinnitus can diminish, just as it can increase, and that it may be a matter of time until it goes back to being tolerable for you.
The techniques which you've mentioned to manage tinnitus generally are all good ones - and they are likely to work for most of us during such increases.
We have a relaxation exercise on our website recorded by Pete Byrom which you can click on to listen to - tinnitus.org.uk/relaxation-...
It will take twenty minutes to complete and it's best to try it out in a space where you can get comfortable for that period of time, without distractions.
Hi dogloverIt is kind of you to reply and to give encouraging words of comfort. I know with experience that my T will change to a more acceptable level.
Its a struggle at the moment which is very tiring.
Hi ,know what you mean.I have suffered for 17 years but a couple of months ago whilst on a relaxing holiday in the Cotswolds it suddenly doubled in sound and is now unbearable.I am at a loss as what to do.Recently got my ears syringed as I thought it may be wax but no that wasn't the case.Scary to think it could get even worse.
Hi I am scared too with how loud my tinnitus is, should it get any louder. In my experience it seems to reach a point whereby I can just about tolerate it.
Although my outlook in life is that my glass is half full and not half empty which helps…..😊
Stress and anxiety doesn’t help, I try to relax but it is difficult.
Thank you for your reply wishing you all the best.
Hi Ethel. This happened to me two years ago.. After a decade of manageable tinnitus it got louder all of a sudden. It might be worth having a hearing test if you haven't already. Even a slight drop in hearing can cause an increase in T .
Yes I have got HA's. I got them in June after a long wait for ENT & audiology. The T - or at least my response - calmed down while I was waiting. The HA's do help a little by letting in natural sound but they don't mask the T in any way . You could ask your GP for a referral to ENT . Tell him / her your T is troubling you and they might be able to fast track it.
