anyone tried hearing aids. The digital kind

That can be tuned to the frequency of your tinnitus. I have just got one in both ears as a two week trial.

It was a good two days

Yesterday was bad.

Hi , I've had hearing aids for over two years , digital ones , they haven't made much difference to my tinnitus but according to the Boots audiologist who fitted me with them they can slow down hearing loss over time or stop it getting worse (which in turn in theory can stop tinnitus getting worse ) I'm not convinced to be honest none of the medical profession can prove what causes T or have a proven treatment for it . You have to train your brain to ignore it and over time it becomes kind of normal .

I have had just a week ago had hearing aids fitted by an independent audiologist at a private hospital. It seems to have dampened my tinnitus by 60%. Although early days. It’s early days. I have had one bad day with it but I am still getting used to the using the hearing aid.

Have another appointment to readjust the programming. Hopefully it will help further. Try another place maybe for a second opinion . Everyone good luck.

Hi Wordmetal.

Yes and for me been a big help.

The hearing tests instigated as part of my T diagnosis identified a mild loss that didn't warrant a hearing aid.

However at a later check up the audiologist suggested trying one as it might fill a gap the T was filling.

It's subtle but I think this has definitely happened, getting in definitely aligned with an advancement in my habitulisation as it is.

Mine, a basic NHS one but has a simple masking capability that I use quite a bit as well.

It's not working at the moment and my T is more noticeable.

Regards

RWG

I hope it does, maybe worth going for one a bit more advanced. The costs are pretty high, and not subsidised which is unfortunate. But quality of life has no value, I do hope it gets better for you. I have found today a little better with the hearing aid

I trialled the Specsavers ones. The T program was exactly the same frequency and volume as my tinnitus , so I didnt see the point of spending £2000 just to hear the same noise. Still waiting for my NHS one, audiologist said if I wait ,should get the new ones with bluetooth.

Just got back from a holiday in Cyprus with friends. Can honestly say Mr T didn't bother me during the day. At night I put the ipad on global player for LBC.
