Hi Toughmathew, yes I have constant static sounds and also sometimes accompanied by other buzzing sounds. During the day I am not so aware as I can be distracted easily but getting to sleep can be difficult & if I wake up in the night. I find if I try to do deep breathing & concentrate on this it can help, a ticking clock next to my bed can help & failing that I will put on my radio. There are many things, as suggested on the BTA website that may help, it's finding some that work for you I have found over time things are less distressing & I pay less attention to the noises. I am sure, given time, things will improve for you

Habituation....the mystical word!! What exactly is it?? After nearly 3 months of feeling like my world had ended, I had lost myself & I would never feel the same again I no longer feel like that. The feeling of fight or flight turned off & Tinnitus no longer dominates my every waking moment. Yes, I would love to be able to close my eyes at night & hear silence like I used to but I am now realistic & practical & accept that is unlikely & I now have a different way of life which includes noise in my head which is harmless. I no longer focus on it during the day & am not even aware of it while I have other noises to distract me. Acceptance is the key
