I remember a little while ago someone mentioned they took GABA tablets and that helped reduce their tinnitus noise. I bought the tablets and then had other health issues so didn’t take them.
Can anyone offer their own personal experience of GABA please?

I don’t have personal experience, Riverdale, but I can tell you that the British tinnitus association has a short article on this on their website (put gaba into their search box). Their conclusion is that it is no more effective than a placebo. Of course, placebos have their place!
In your position I’d have a chat with my pharmacist to ensure it doesn’t clash with anything else you might be taking, remembering that pharmacists are more clued up that’s docs about this sort of thing. Or at least they should be!
They are not the same. The one that you have is Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid, and it is unable to cross the blood-brain threshold so it is not useful and will just be dumped in the gut.
Whoops I was looking at the wrong thing - Gaba-Aminobutyric, as riverdale says, isn’t the same thing, sorry. Among pharmacists gabapentin is known as gaba (I checked with a retired pharmacist) so I was confused, sorry.
I had an operation last year with the success rate of 88%. Unfortunately I was in the 12% that was not successful. So my feeling is now if there is a small percentage of people that GABA may help and it’s not dangerous I am going to give it a try! I know I saw a post here where someone was getting benefit from it as they posted it!
