I took Diazepam 1mg every day for 7 days when I had a spike.. by day 6 my tinnitus had subsided.. I stopped for 7 days so not to build resilience..2 days after I stopped I had not tinnitus and continued to be v low for another 5 days...im trying to work out if my tinnitus is caused by tmj or anxiety... I notice if I take diazepam it doesn't effect my T until 2 days afterwards.. I'm wondering if it's because it's relaxing my muscles caused by tmj as opposed to anxiety which would kick in sooner when I take it... on the day... advice most welcome..

diazepam advice

well it might be! I’m sure by now you’ve read what Tinnitus UK says about TMJ so I’m wondering if you’ve had any treatment for it?
I avoid taking any tablets as much as possible as I hate the idea of animal testing.
I've had T for many years now. In the beginning months of my T journey I also had some vertigo and the diagnosis was possible Ménière's disease. The doctor said he had success with diazepam (possible 1 or 2mg) and thought it would help. I took it for a few months it did help very much. The problem is once I went off the T came back full force. I never figured out what was actually going on but I suffered horrible withdrawals when I went off the diazepam, I knew I couldn't carry on taking it. Since then I've habituated as much as possible though the spikes have been harder to deal with. I know this doesn't answer your question but thought maybe it might give you some more data points. All the best.
Hi Tom. My partner went through a very similar experience both with the symptons and Valium. He had a terrible time withdrawing from Valium when no longer available and trying to deal with his symptoms as the drug had become a crutch. He ended up spiralling. I’m pleased to hear Tom you are finding ways to cope without it and you’re doing better than you think! Take care and this was to let you know you’re not the only one who has been through that experience.
thanks fir your message... i take about 7mg over 2 weeks.. i take 2mg or 1 mg when I have a spike.. then nothing fir days.. i thought it was so small a dose it wouldn't make cause dependence.. did you takeva similar dose?
It wasn’t me but my partner and yes he was taking a very small dose too and though the same. We were both very Naive about how addictive it could be and also the withdrawal. At the end of the day any dose can cause dependency and you will get to a point where your GP will not prescribe it to you but not the help to deal with the withdrawal! (In our case anyway)
Yes, I took a similar dose but for a longer period which contributed to the withdrawals when I came off. Be careful because even low dosages can cause dependence. I never felt dependent whilst taking it, but when I stopped the withdrawals were strong.
ps did you have spikes when you stopped... how often did you take it.. I take it when I have a spike ... really helps.. then couple of days ltr it's back.. though had 2 weeks when it was do low and then had sudden spike..
