Hi everyone, has anyone tried the supplement GABA (Gamma-aminobutyric acid)? If so, what were your findings?
Google…"GABA is the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain, and it is a major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the spinal cord. The insulin-producing beta-cells of the pancreas produce GABA. It functions to inhibit pancreatic alpha cells, stimulate beta-cell growth, and convert alpha-cells to beta cells.”
I came across this supplement on a YouTube where Dr. Alan Mandell has several videos on the subject of T.
Yes, I tried GABA for months, it had no effect whatsoever. In my opinion Dr Mandell is a well meaning quack. I’ve seen lots of his videos on tinnitus, none of the things he recommends work.
Hi there. I took Gaba for around 10 months after seeing that you tube video. It won't reduce the tinnitus, but it definitely reduced the anxiety around it which has to be a plus. I found it also helped with sleep. I found Gaba hard to find in the UK. I have been ordering it from Piping Rock in the United States with no problems. Gaba is present in foods too, such as spinach. We are all different, but I found in general, it did help. Worth a try.
I was searching around for this via the NHS site and wondered why I couldn’t find it - and got confused with the other gaba - gabapentin. Thanks for the info.
