Hello All.. I find it so sad to see so many people posting their issues on here. How can there not be a cure in this day and age.

One thing I’m looking at is medication. Does anyone take bisoprolol, amlodipine, atorvastatin?

These often come up (googling) that tinnitus could be a possible side effect.

I’m waiting for a GP appointment to discuss.

No, I dont take the medication you mention, but I take Azathioprin , which I suspect having an influence on my tinnitus.

I had tinnitus before I started on aza , but it worsened tinnitus to an extent, where it is hard to cope with in daily life.

Hope you can change to other medications , with less side effects.

Me too. It’s awful that no one has found a solution. For me taking any medications adds to my problems as they all have side effects.

I do not go around looking for a cure but treat my symptom like a long term condition which needs managing. Personally I do not take medication for tinnitus and do wonder if previous use of medication for pain was a contributing factor. I look to managing stress and focusing more on living for the moment.

I took 5 days Atorvastatin 40 mg. It made my tinnitus come back to noticeable after many years. . That was 2 years ago . I refused to take anymore and went on a vegan diet to get my cholestrol down. Now have rouvastatin 5 mg . Still have the T and a radio with earphone ( even at night ) but can forget about the T a lot of the time. Many friends my age are on Atorvastatin . It seems the ones on low dose are ok . Several friends on higher dose have T . The leaflet does say may cause ringing in the ears.

there are so so many conditions for which there is no cure. I could start with the neurological ones such as Parkinsonism, multiple sclerosis etc. Then there are the (about 200 different) arthritis conditions. Many kidney diseases. IBS. Many gynae conditions.

The mammalian body is complex, and perhaps we humans add to the complexity by living such unnatural lives.

Yes their are so many other debilitating conditions that don’t yield a cure as well, you are right! But unlike for examples; Alzheimers, Parkinson’s, Heart disease, MND, many cancers etc - they are all “well” publicised and “well” funded! And they do at least offer some form of treatment that affects the “cause” (and not only the bloody effect!) and can ease the pain, and a cure won’t be far away for them. But not for Chronic Tinnitus and Hyperacusis!

ITS NOT GOOD ENOUGH WITH THE LACK OF SUPPORT THAT CHRONIC TINNITUS AND HYPERACUSIS CURRENTLY MERITS. THESE CONDITIONS COULD WELL BE PROPERLY TREATED OR EVEN CURED BY NOW IF IT HAD HAVE BEEN DEALT WITH PROPERLY FROM THE START.
