Hi Does anyone else suffer from this particular sound? It comes and goes for no specific reason or triggers .Sometimes virtually no tinnitus at all and other times very distracting.I started taking 1 a day magnesium citrate 400mg with added vitamin B6 and 12 a few months ago .I think that may be helping slightly but certainly hasnt got rid of the tinnitus yet. Im a 59 year old male.

Does anyone know of any tinnitus treatment trials for which one could enrol in the SE of England please?

Thanks

I'm sorry to say there's no treatment as yet for T. Contact the Admins of this site (information to the right of this page) to see if they know of any trials. There is a lot of helpful information on their website too.

Wishing you all the best

Hi my tinnitus sound is like that too. Also comes and goes. Also speeds up and slows down relating to what I’m doing. I just wondered what made you try the magnesium and vit b? I’m a 47 year old female.

Hello Snow47Just wanted to add to your comment about “ speeds up and down depending on what your doing”. Mine does that too. If I’m quietly reading and sitting or laying down it’s quieter. If I move around to do jobs in the house the T starts to react , I think it must be to do with the crystals in our ears . Do you have any ideas on that?

Yes I’m the same. When I’m calm and still it almost goes away but get quicker when rushing around and a glass of wine really sets it off. I’ve had mine since a nasty virus chest infection Nov 2019. Paid too much for ent consultations, mri scan etc which found nothing. Weirdly and clearly doesn’t help in your case but I spoke to a menopause doc yesterday and it’s a big symptom of drops in oestrogen which happens at my age. She did say it was to do with the crystals in your ears though. So you clearly know more than me. I’m speaking to neurology about this and another issue v soon so will ask if they have any clarity. Would really like to hear more about the crystals stuff if you know any more. It feels like a big jigsaw puzzle to me.

Crystals in the ear? I thought is was cochlear(cilia) in the ear. Also, is it pulsatile T that's speeding up or do you mean the high pitched whistle gets louder?

The tinnitus speeds up but I’d say it does get louder as well

Yes it dies seem to speed up your right. I’ve answered you about the crystals again in another place on here

No Wringing nothing like that . When me and the other person moves around our ears are worse with fullness and pressure . I don’t get whistling noises , just a deep Hum really . But this awful fullness and pressure build up when we move about our business , like doing jobs etc

Not pulsatile tinnitus . It speeds up , gets pressure and fills my ears up with more noise if I rest it gets much better .

I do wish doctors would help us understand this , it’s horrible to live with

Re Crystals etc ....Well a good friend of mine had labrinthitus ( can’t spell it). and a physio therapist used to tip her upside down and around to mix the crystals in the ears . I don’t know much else but I could ask her. However if you google Labrynthitus it might tell us more. You are the first person I’ve spoken to that has things quiet and settled when your resting. Very pleased I’ve found you . It appears that us people have to do our own research because clearly the doctors are not bothering . Do you find too that the pressure builds up in your ears when moving around . I could cope with the tinnitus side of it if the dam pressure didn’t fill my ears up . Whatever could it be? More research is needed .

Rabbits the procedure you describe is Eply (there are UTube videos about it) which is done for Benign Positional Postural Vertigo. Labyrinthitis is an infection. But the symptoms are the same so I don’t know how doctors differentiate.

As far as changes in perception of T goes, I’ve been on this site now for a year and its apparent we all perceive T different ways. Doctors know there is currently no cure so some of them can be dismissive as they feel they can’t help.

Thank you Happyrosie ,I do sincerely wish that doctors could help us more, even if they pretended to care with a bit of TLC . That’s life.

I have noticed that a few people have similar symptoms to me and that’s a bit of comfort.

Some days the fullness in my head feels like it’s going to burst. I have to lay down to calm it down. I don’t have problems with the actual noise of T .

Anyway thanks for your post.

After the holiday weekend, maybe contact the admins of this site at British tinnitus association and ask them to signpost you to a video they’ve got of a gp talking about T. I can’t quote the site here but they will know what I mean. It will give you insights into what GPs think.

Thanks.I read on the internet that there is some anecdotal evidence that magnesium and vit b may help but its not definitely proven.I just thought Id give it try.

There was a post about Vit B 12 about a month ago so I bought some to see if it works. Hasn’t made a difference to me.Also, I tried magnesium for arthritis as my husbands golfing chums say it does them good. Didn’t do a thing for me, but my husband finds it gives his aches and pains something to think about.
