I've heard anecdotal evidence, but there is no evidence. See BTA website on B12 - tinnitus.org.uk/tinnitus-an....

There maybe a placebo effect and the act of doing something gives a positive outlook and may help tinnitus, mixed with a little bit of faith.

As a general rule, not related to tinnitus, supplements are something you should speak to your GP about. You could do yourself more harm than good - nytimes.com/2020/02/11/well.... If you're not taking in the necessary vitamins, then I'd probably say you should review your diet first of all, but get professional advice (I'm more of a keyboard warrior, than a doctor or (professional) dietitian. Again I'm speaking generally, and not about tinnitus, but maybe a prescription to target any underlying problem is necessary. Furthermore, if a health condition is preventing your body from storing the necessary levels then a supplement may help or may reject it in any case (nhs.uk/conditions/vitamin-b....

Off-the-shelf supplements are also likely to be very low, for reasons stated above, to have a significant effect. Always use medicine and supplement that are regulated to avoid risks.

There was a post about a month ago from someone saying they’d been helped so I bought two month’s supply.I take on board what Dave Russell says about not taking supplements without speaking to your GP. By the time you get to my age (74) the body will probably not be processing my food intake as efficiently as it did when i was younger so I’m willing to take the chance that supplements could be a good idea - for me. In other words, I’m putting into my body things that could be missing.

My diet follows the NHS eat well plan though all my portions, though not proportions, are less than their guidance. Plus two squares of 80% dark chocolate a day!

And so far after about ten days the b12 has made absolutely no difference!

Gosh Happyrosie you are very good with your two chocolate squares . I know dark chocolate is good for us. Do you know if there is anything we should eat or should not eat that might be an additional trigger for this awful tinnitus ?Penny

I’ve not found anything that’s a trigger, though I used to find when I was younger that a hangover made it worse!!! Now I find a glass of red wine (or as it’s Saturday today I’m just about to open a bottle of bubbly) takes the pain away a bit!!! I have two glasses of wine three times a week, usually.

Yes. I'd like to know too. If any particular food / drinks make tinnitus worse .. I'd be more than happy to give them up. I take VitC - one fizzy tablet a day.

If the bread has a thick crust, the chewing could aggrevate tinnitus?

"the chewing muscles are near to some of the muscles that insert into the middle ear and so may have an effect on hearing, and so may promote tinnitus" - tinnitus.org.uk/tinnitus-an...

Hi Dave

Did not know that, I have noticed that chewing does sometimes appear to give a clicking noise in my ears.
