this is really a question for a doctor or a pharmacist, once you’ve read the details that are freely available about this on the internet.

Perhaps you are asking for recommendations from posters here who might have been helped by this medication, or feel that they have been harmed by it. But we are all individuals who have no access to the medical history of the person who might be prescribed this so any replies would not, in my view, be very helpful.

zopyclone is a drug to help you sleep. It’s addictive so GPs normally will not prescribe it. My own GP allows me 2 per week which help when my T spikes.

It does nothing to help T other than a good sleep.

We should be careful when we say things are ‘addictive’ because the majority of people interpret that as ‘it’s like Heroin’. The addiction/abuse potential for Zopiclone is very small and the narcotic effect minimal to non-existent. Look at it another way, my wife takes Outravane when she has a cold. After a few days she has to wean herself off as it stops the nose producing all its gunk naturally. You would need to take Zopiclone daily for a month or two to have any problems with it, and even then the problem you might get is difficulty sleeping, which you probably already have is you are taking that pill. I think it’s important not to demonise medications which can be very helpful by using the work ‘addictive’. It scares people off and carries a weight of uninformed notions of what addiction actually is.

I was quoting my GP ! and in any case for zopyclone to work for a month nightly the dose would need increasing significantly .. I assume that’s why I can only take 2 a week if needed? My GP here in the UK said they are restricted to who can receive them

Zopiclone had no effect on my Tinnitus, it just gave me some good nights sleep, that in its self did help me cope more.

my understanding is that

my understanding is that Zopiclone is far less addictive than benzodiazepines such as diazepam , lorazepam etc. If on benzodiazepines for a lengthy time the evidence appears to be that on gradual withdrawal it in itself can cause tinnitus. My understanding, although I did want evidence from users , that Zopiclone neither caused nor alleviated Tinnitus either in using or withdrawing from it. I have to say however that Lorazepam gave me a better quality sleep than the metal tasting Zopiclone and seemed to lower the volume of the tinnitus.

Zopiclone helped me sleep well, had no adverse effect on my tinnitus and didn't make me drowsy the next day. I took the smallest dose possible splitting the tablet. I had no withdrawal from it but GP won't prescribe it so got mitrazapine which isn't as effective and does make me drowsy next morning.

Does anyone have any stratagems or tactics , including medication, that will serve to reduce the effects of debilitating tinnitus. Has anyone tried hypnosis for example ?

None. It is supposed to be for sleep, though the first time I had it, it didn't.
