After 7+ weeks of acute onset, weight lifting makes right ear feel full and ringing intensifies.

Fellow beautiful warriors or/and supportive heroes. On may 4th, I have had an acute onset of tinnitus in both ears.

- Initial symptoms in first weeks after tinnitus started:

- Fullness in both ears and intense pressure on head + ears.

- Muscle spasms in or around my ears, felt like sound waves blasted through my head at random times. This happened a few times and only in the first two weeks.

- Sharp feeling in throat at random times and pain under my tong that lasted over a day.

- Sharp pain in the right upper neck at times.

- Moments of feeling like I'm drunk, not able to fully sense my environment.

- Every morning that I woke up, I had very red eyes that would get better over the day.

- Extremely red ears so now and then, still happens, but a lot less frequent.

Symptoms now:

- Tinnitus right ear, feeling of fullness right ear. After weight lifting, tried it yesterday and did not train since 4th of May, an increase in intensity of ringing the next day.

- Red eyes that do not get better, my eyes are red literally all the time now.

I went to two different ENTS, they couldn't see anything physically wrong with my ears and I went 10+ times to my GP, he really wants to help, but doesn't know how. Also, he doesn't seem impressed by my 24/7 red eyes that started together with the tinnitus. Should I ask him to forward me to an eye specialist?

I trained (weight lifting) intensively since I was about 18 years old, now 26. Maybe my blood vessels are damaged? I'm clueless as of what is happening, might it be Covid-19 then I would've probably have more similar symptoms to others, maybe a bacterial infection? Maybe my ears are causing all this? Sorry, it's getting too complicated.

Could the ENT have seen problems with my inner ear by just looking at my outer ear and doing a pressure test? The last one said that the pressure test seemed fine, so my Eustachian tubes are working like they should (Can you come to the this conclusion by testing the eardrum pressure?), while I always thought that was my problem. I don't know where to go next, tinnitus is very bothersome, but I am actually scared of my general health, since I have more things going on.

The ENT said, learn to live with it.. classic saying :/ Then I started crying out of the blue, couldn't control it, it just hit me. She said she could forward me to a audiologist therapist.

But, looking online, I see stuff about SPF and a lot of different tests and issues, especially since my eyes are very red and hard to move sometimes that happened together with the ear issues. Not to forget the 'feeling drunk' episodes at the beginning and the muscle spasms (sound waves). I do not understand why I won't be helped further than just the outer ear check that take less than a minute. Any advice? Should I go on a vacation to Turkey or the US and get checked in a private clinic or so? Maybe they do have the willingness to do all the appropriate tests?

Edit: It's really scary, since I do not know what caused this to happen in the first place, I was just sitting behind my desk, doing a project for school and all of a sudden, a very severe onset of symptoms.

This is my second post tho, I'm sorry if it's overlapping here and there for the kind souls that have read my first post.

It's me again🤠 Just to comment on your latest post, I've had some similar symptoms that seem to be affected by physically straining. You may have pulsatile symptoms? Like a thumping in your ear? Maybe you've herniated a vein in your ear, or have a blood clot. That's something the brain scan could detect. It's a good idea to get tested for Covid 19 as well. How is your blood pressure?

Red eyes? Are you sleeping enough? Do you drink too much coffee or Redbull? That stuff makes me clench my jaw. Are you talking on your cell phone or wearing a blue tooth for long durations? Something is causing inflammation in your system.

Just simple Tinitus alone doesn't cause the inflammation. It will cause pressure and vertigo, that drunk feeling and can, if severe enough, wear you down such that your brought to tears.

My advice:(although I'm not a doctor) follow through with the scan, but make sure you get the results and have them reviewed by multiple doctors from different specialties. It seems to me, based on your description, You are one of the few T patients that needs to rule out anything life threatening. Try to take it very easy. Relax as much as possible. You may never learn the cause of this and even if you do, there may not be any treatment options. It may just go away on its own.

Keep searching for answers but keep as calm as you can. I know it's hard but it can be done.

Hey there :)

Hmmm, I see.. Might be because I have been sitting too much behind my desk or looking down at my phone.. The sharp pain in my neck and behind my head etc. makes that a possibility, just feels like my head, neck and shoulders are inflamed and stiff idk how to describe it.

I actually do in my right ear! Didn't notice it until I had the courage to sleep in my own room again. It's kind of like a cricket sound, just for one day it was a loud 'whoosing' sound though, which really scared me. I wasn't sure, if it was coming from me, but after I had (noticed) it that night, a few minutes later it stopped. Although the cricket sounds is still here most nights.

I got tested for Covid-19 about 5 weeks after my initial symptoms, the test came back negative, but I don't think there was a big chance for it to be positive, since that test only looked at the active state in your mouth/nose. I've ordered an antibody test that I will send back tomorrow, so I'm hoping that will come back positive, that might sound weird, but knowing that it could be caused by Covid-19 would give me great relief at this point.. not knowing what is going on at all is worse for me :/

Red eyes.. yeah.. I'm trying to get sufficient sleep, although it's probably a bit worse due to the stress/anxiety, which I'm trying to limit as much as I can. Haven't drunk of coffee or any kind of unhealthy drink since 4 May. Eyes are still very red and itchy atm.. and it's becoming an increasing concern..

Also, since 4 May, no use of headphones etc. very limited calling to GP and friends.

Yeah... Feels like a strong amount of inflammation is going on everywhere.. Should I ask the GP for a corticosteroïd (prednison or so) cure? I heard this could also lower the level of tinnitus.

Thank you a lot for your advice, yeah.. let's see what the neurologist has to say.. Going to be quite a challenge to wait another month tho :/

"Keep searching for answers but keep as calm as you can. I know it's hard but it can be done." Very well said, only way forward..

Sorry for my super long reply, you don't have to reply constructively again, I'm already very grateful for all your support <3

I’ve left replying to you for a day, so that I can try and absorb what you are saying about your symptoms.

My personal view is that these things come along in life, and that there’s not much to be done about them. Your body can be full of upsets, changes And symptoms which don’t mean much other than being uncomfortable, and may not be curable.

If things are still bad in a couple of months - and they may well have settled - then go back to your doctor and ask for more help. There may be no help available other than the things you would do for yourself like eating healthily and talking lovely calming walks in the countryside, if you can.

I wish you all the best

Haha, totally understand that, it became quite the post >.< The thing is, I just turned 26 and I was doing alright and then all of a sudden my quality of life and health deteriorated very significantly for no obvious reason.. I would say that I went from 95 (little things here and there) to 5 (survival mode)..

Maybe something was going wrong for a long time with my health and the symptoms manifested now or something.. idk.. but it doesn't feel like something that will go away on its own. I feel like how longer I go on like this, how worse I will get. Not really looking at it from a scared point of view, just genuinely feeling like that's going to happen.

At the start, I thought, heck, this tinnitus is really annoying, damn.. how will I cope with this, but now I feel like it's a bothersome issue, but not the main point of concern anymore.

Thank you for your reply, really appreciate it and good tips, walking around nature really helps me feel better throughout the day. Also, been eating way more veggies than usual :)

Hi again,

Just a passing though, have you been taking any supplements (steroids etc) during your weight training. I've known people get some strange side effects from these.

My tinnitus has actually got worse since the last time we talked, but I still have not been able to see an ENT doctor.

Hi there! I've just replied to you on my other post as well btw, so you know :)

I only used protein powder and creatine from a brand named Optimum Nutrition. I never used any supplements that are in a risk group, I felt tempted a few times and researched about it and decided that it's not worth to risk my health for extra gains, since I am very happy with my current muscle mass. Well, I haven't been able to train in 2 months due to this stuff, so a lot less big now, but yeah >.<

I'm so sad to hear that... mine doesn't seem to improve as well, maybe also a bit worse than when it started, I couldn't even tell at this point imo.. When is your ENT appointment again?

Think you need to move on from the ENTs to a good Neurologist at this point. Look at things from a different perspective.
