Otomize ear spray

HiI have an outer ear infection in both ears and I've been prescribed Otomize ear spray but it's making me feel really sick when I use it, has anyone else had this experience? I don't know if it's helping my tinnitus as I only started taking it yesterday afternoon. I'm currently using a hot water bottle on alternative ears which is helping ease the pain and discomfort.

Thanks

I’ve used twice over a couple of months with no effect on me or the T. Hope that helps

it’s possibly because of slightly blocked ears and this makes one dizzy: the ears tell the brain one thing, the eyes and your sense of balance tells it something else.

It didn't help me at all when I used it. The sickness is likely from the ear blockage rather than the spray I'd say, as someone else has mentioned. The spray did cause irritation after eight days though (I was advised.to use for ten) and the lining of my.ear canal blistered and peeled. Ok after a week of healing. No other effect.

I have ear ache at the moment and have just started on colloidal silver, a few drops in my ear then wedge cotton wool inside for a bit, I believe this is going to help and no unpleasant side effects.

One of the ingredients of Otomise, Neomycin, is a very ototoxic antibiotic. It may lead to all sorts of ear problems.

I literally only tolerated 3 squirts and stopped is penicillin ototoxic?

Not that I know off. Try googling ototoxic antibiotics. There is a full list there. If you discuss it with your Gp may offer you alternatives

Hi

I was prescribed Otomise following a diagnosis of 'swimmers ear' and it certainly caused mu T to spike. The spike diminished after stopping the Otomise. I would not use it again! Re penicillin - I have taken prescribed Amoxicilin for infections. This has had no adverse affect on my T. but has sorted the infection.

Well I went back to the docs today and he gave me some steroid drops instead but I'm just wondering if I should just let the inflammation run it's course, it's not bad enough for antibodies but he did suggest some antidepressants for a while just to get on top of the tinnitus

Used in moderation, and taking on board the GPs advice, using the steroid drops may be a better option than letting the inflammation run its course. You can always sop the treatment if it seems inappropriate. Take care with antidepressants - really try other more sustainable ways of dealing with the T on your journey to habituation. Good luck Coxy00. Stay strong.
