I was positive until Saturday. I’ve lived with T since Christmas just gone it was a never ending ringing and I got used to it and could do the things I enjoyed but Saturday it changed and now I’m stuck with a roaring rushing sound in my ear and my hearing in my left ear has to be damaged because when I speak I can hear my voice inside my head (like when you block your own ears) I’m at snapping point right now and holding on by the finger tips. Getting no support from the doctors beyond wait and try to cope isn’t right.

I can’t deal with this long term I know I can’t.

Yes I know this is very hard for a lot of us like myself I thinking how can I cope with this 24 7 ringing in ears enough to drive you around the bend I just try to get through each day as best I can unfortunately doctors can do much for this but iam. Hope in one day I read they have beaten it till them I do my best to get through each day it's when you are trying to sleep it's at it worse because not so much sounds around to try make it less putting on fans helps me I can still hear it but it dose help my heart goes out to anyone with this who finds it hard to manage surely one day they will cure this I really do hope so

It’s horrible and killing me. Right now is the worst of it and I’m starting to slip into darker thoughts to be honest. I have spoken to some people who have told me to push for a trial on hearing aids and not to let them say no because it could be very slight hearing loss due to the infection (audiologist said my left ear - infected ear was weaker than the right) that’s brought the t and hearing aids might solve it and on 4th of June I’m going to plead with them for a trial period to see if it helps.

I’m really at breaking point. I’m not getting any help other than the offer of sleeping tablets and antidepressants. I was told a few months back that there were things that was available on the NHS and since then I’ve asked three doctors and each have said there’s nothing. I don’t mean a cure I know that’s not possible (yet - fingers crossed) just something to help cope like I’ve read over and over like retraining and other therapy but nothing has been offered or accepted yet.

I’m starting to crack. These darker thoughts are becoming more frequent and harder to fight. What fun is life when this new noise a muffled rumbling that’s taken everything u enjoy in life from (reading watching television etc) I’m holding on but it’s with white knuckles.

Thanks for the offer of a chat. I’m usually on the edge most of the time and having someone who is going through the same thing helps.

I think a lot of ear infection didn't help me this was before and after suffering from this ringing and buzzing and working in a loud factory the thing is for some of us it my not come to years later then your stuck with it iam. Just hoping they come up with a cure very soon

I’m hoping for a cure as well. Mines from an infection (I think I’ve already put that up). See I was used to the high pitched ringing it’s the new one a rumbling sound in my ear it’s odd because when I put my finger just slightly in my ear and push down a little the rumbling is almost completely silent but when I take my finger out after a few seconds it’s back. Which is freaking me out a little so not sure what that is.

I’m doing my best. Having people to chat to helps even in the breakdown moments so thanks. It’s not the sort of thing my family does. Usually a punch in the arm is our families sign language for Love Ya. Lol.

If I close my ears it's worse for me it's like trapping it in you just whiss it would suddenly disappear but unfortunately it dose not the lack of sleep does not help do people every meet up in person all those that suffer from this so people could chat in person unfortunately doc can't do much sending for a ear test yes is a good I dear as I found out I didn't have great hearing so got hearing adds they help the hearing but sadly not the ringing I heard it's comeIng from the brain so once they can understand how to tap into this we mite stand a chance of beating this because my whiss is nobby should suffer from this

So true. I had no clue that this sort of thing happened to people through infections or anything that wasn’t loud music or injury. I never had earphones in my ears as a kid my parents warned me off it and now all these years later I get it through a bloody infection.

I’ve read that there is research going on so hopefully something gets made or invented that might help. Mines in one ear rarely heard in the other. I can deal with the high pitched noise got used to it pretty quick but the new one is up and down rumbles and rises so there’s little chance to get used to it.

I do really feel for you and anyone who is suffering from this as I know what they are going through iam sure someone will come up with something aa thare are a lot of us would pay a high price to get rid of this

djv1985 profile image
djv1985 in reply toRobert1961

Yep. I’d pay through the noise AND ears to get this sorted. I’m surprised more research isn’t happening in the states.

I think the reality is that people who have this has to lean on each other (like we do on here) because unless you’re suffering from it you don’t know how horrible it can be. When I explain to people it isn’t painful in the normal way but more mentally painful they don’t seem to understand.

Super thankful I stumbled across this site/app otherwise I think I’d have snapped by now.
