Just got my first hearing aids there is also tinnitus masking. My sky box and tv dont have Bluetooth. I tried to listen with hearing aids(not sure if im meant to use with the masking). The danalogic ambio aids are picking the tv sound very vaguely. Its sounds like my tv is miles away and im listening through a tin can!Im guessing that the microphones on the hearing aids are not strong enough to pick up the tv sound?Im turning my tv up to hear it over the noises in the aids. Guessing that either i dont wear aids listening to tv or need to buy an expensive tv streamer to Bluetooth tv to hearing aids? Also my tinnitus in one of my ears is louder than the programms in the hearing aids.
Thank you Gary

There is a lot more to learn and get used to, and for the brain to adapt to, than people think.
I should say I have little experience, despite having had mine 3 or 4 years, as I've only started wearing them regularly. I made an oath to my audiologist back in November to start wearing them all the time).
The T-Coil is a mode you can use im public places. Wherever see the T symbol (see image) in a venue, your aids can pick up the sounds from e.g. a tannoy or at a reception desk/counter with a screen (I've probably used mine once or twice).
I have Oticon NHS hearing aids. The audiologist set 4 modes for me. Normal use, Masking mode, Conversation/focus mode, and TCoil. To switch between modes I press-and-hold the volume up or down for a few seconds. There phone app which makes them easier to control.
Further to your OP, I'm told it's best to wear them as often as possible. Except at night I'm bed. Or, unless you are fond of Tinnitus, don't wear them at a Gig.
Furthermore, the maskers are not to literally meant to mask your Tinnitus. I find these very useful indeed now I'm used to them.
I ha e Phonak through the NHS (older models) and ones I brought. Both have an app but it's not great and I can't easily pair them with phone to use app.
I can hear a lot clearer with mine, can hear people speak which is great. TV doesn't need to be paired, I can now hear with volume relatively low (what I guess is normal for others). It made a big difference.
T isn't gone, sits there but other noise kind of drowns it. I have only had these since Jan/Feb time this year, so it may be I'm still getting used to them.
Not sure why yours would sound like you are in a tunnel, never experienced. Maybe (if NHs issued) give them a call and make an appointment to have them checked. I don't know the tech details but they all need adjusting to your specific hearing loss and maybe just needs tweaking?
If you click on my username you will find a post that describes the cheap and fully effective way to 'Masking Tinnitus with wireless headphones' with devices that do not have Bluetooth built in - a Bluetooth Transmitter / Receiver
I have included a technical support contact (the manager of the shop I purchased it from). If anyone can tell you whether the transmitter will also work directly with hearing aids (some of them?) it is probably him.
