Yes, well, nothing new there! If you're fat it's because you're a greedy, lazy liar!!! The patient always has to be to blame!

You will notice that there is not one single mention of hormones in that article. Hormones - or rather the lack of them - are often at the root of weight gain and - dare I say it? - slow metabolism. And not just thyroid hormones, either. Deficiency in Testosterone can make you fat, and deficiency in HGH (Human Growth Hormone) or maybe too much of the bad estrogens.

And considering the rubbish that they shove into our food these days - soy derivitives and other endocrine disruptors - and all the pollution out there, it's not suprising that our hormones are all unbalanced. But we can't admit that, can we, because that might have a negative effect on industry and, therefore, money. It's all money! Make people sensitive about their weight gain, tell them it's all their fault, and sell them a weight loss pill! And watch the coffers fill...

I guess there are some people who just plain eat too much, but given the obesity epidemic there is at the moment, I would think they are in the minority.

Rant over. lol Grey x

At the end it says

Some diseases and conditions can slow a person’s metabolism, such as Cushing’s syndrome and hypothyroidism (an underactive thyroid), but these are rare...

Hmm.... is one in 20 rare?

It's very early 80s! And dumbed down. I remember keeping the house under 50 degrees in order to lose weight. Didn't happen, but I really messed up my adrenals (not that cold was the only cause). I had tons of muscle mass, too - well, pounds anyway.

Comes from the "all calories are equal" discredited school of thought
