From reading blogs etc on this site and hearing people talking about Dr P and Dr S . Can you email these docs for advice? Can you get an appt with them regardless of where you live and does anyone know their scale of charges? Do they specialise in just thyroid.? Thanks. Xx

Hi, Yes you can email. Dr S.'s secretary responded to me with dates fees etc. Sorry can't find the replies. I'm in Lancashire.

Forgot to mention you will need a GP referral. Mine wouldn't (ongoing battle) I finally found one from Harley St. that sees without referral. People on this site are currently seing Dr P too.

Thank you poppyrose. I think hell will freeze over before my gp agrees to a referral!!! Apparently there is nothing wrong with me that hrt won't cure. Do you know ifyou need a referral for Dr P? X

Oh my! You too! Apparently I have Depression, Chronic fatigue Synd, Fybromyalia and need HRT (I have no menopausal symptoms - lucky I know). I refused all of these over a period of time as he just keeps coming up with 'other' diagnosis (incorrect at that) rather than treat me properly. (See my profile for full history). I asked for them NOT to be recorded on my records too.

This consultant also has appointments in Manchester and other places see link. £250 for 50 mins plus bloods! Can't make a recommendation as I didn't get that far. but have been in otuch and they are very helpfull, may need to in the future. spirehealthcare.com/hale/Co...

This was my final shot at them and said I would be furious and so would the Consultant if all that was needed was for me to have an icrease in Thyroxine. Guess what ? they did! Waiting to see if there are any changes - not so far. My TSH high and raising, my T4 low no idea on T3 because 'I'm normal' !! ;)

Good luck!

Thanks, would beworried about what my gp would say in a referral! Probably refer to me as a mad overweight menopausal hypochondriac. Although I understand under the nhs constitution I can see a copy of any referral letter. I have not yet gone down the cfs, fibromyalgia route, but I am sure the gp will bring them out soon. I too have no menopause symptoms, what I wouldn't give for a hot flush now and then just to feel warm!

I'm sure you need referal to most including Dr P. worth emailing them they will give all details. I can't find my correspondence with them.

You don't need a referral for Dr P as he resigned from the Medical Register as he was being hounded like Dr S. Therefore, he cannot prescribe but he is so knowledgeable and can help you get well.

Email me for the full doc list - details on there of whether you need referrals or not etc - louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org
