Gluten free
Yep - loads. Been wheat and, almost, gluten free now for about three months and started noticing the difference within a week. Did a silly thing yesterday and ate some biscuits beause I was feeling a bit fed up and haven't I paid for it today. My stomach is all bloated and uncomfortable again and I just dont feel right.

After seeing a dietician in March have been as gluten-free as possible and have noticed a great difference - much less bloating, stomach cramps or diarrhoea, or nausea and bad taste in my mouth. She advised me to try the FODMAP diet which I follow as closely as possible - this excludes various fruits and vegetables as well as gluten, and I also try to avoid lactose. Not always easy to stick to, especially when eating out, but something you can get used to, and definitely beneficial! I have had IBS for 12+ years following the traumatic death of my husband, and been prescribed many different medications, but this diet has helped more than anything. I also take a medication called Kolanticon when necessary, which I read about on this valuable website, and this is helpful when I have an IBS flare-up. Good luck!
I do but I am also coeliac so can't eat any gluten at all.
Yes I do, although I sometimes eat gluten containing foods if I'm out and there's something really tempting like croissants or gorgeous patisseries, but I can feel the difference quite quickly afterwards so now I only buy gluten free bread, cake and flour etc for myself to use at home. I also feel much better for not consuming dairy, although I sometimes have the casein-free milk from Tesco and Waitrose in cooked foods.
One of my nieces is also gluten free, but not coeliac, due to IBS and another is dairy free since a very bad illness a few years ago and my daughter has been dairy free since weaning, which took a while to work out at that time.
By the way if you register at the Juvela website and the Glutafin website they'll usually send you some samples of their gluten free range of foods, which were useful in deciding what was worth buying in the future and what wasn't
No, didn't feel any difference and didn't lose an ounce.
Hi If having a test for it, make sure you eat gluten fo the 2 weeks before. This does not always show the problem, nor does an endoscopy ,alhtough more chance with that. This does not mean you are not Caeliac, in that case trial and error with food.Good consultants know this now. My endo recently published a paper on it in the BMJ, Novemeber 2012.
Best wishes,
Jackie
I've been gluten free since early December. I felt better for it quite quickly and soon noticed when I'd made a mistake and eaten the wrong thing - it takes time and experience to spot all the dangers and avoid gluten completely. Now I would not be tempted back to bread, cakes etc for anything - and can even look at trays of cakes and pastries and not want them at all! I've lost 14lbs and rarely feel hungry, I seem to have more energy and have lost all that horrible bloating. Fortunately I'm OK with dairy and home made yoghurt plays a big part in my diet, along with lots of fruit and vegetables. Health Unlocked has a sister site to TUK called Gluten free Gorillas which you might find useful.
I didn't feel any better for a gluten-free diet, I just felt miserable! lol I'm convinced it works for a lot of people, but It didn't work for me. And before anybody tells me that there is lots of hidden gluten in processed foods (because people always do say that when I say I didn't feel any benifit from a gluten-free diet), all I ate during that time was fresh fish and veggies and fruit. Nowhere for gluten to hide! lol

Thanks to all who replied to me. It's interesting how many feel better for eliminating gluten from their diet. Some years ago I had a test for cealiac but it came back negative. I know from my neighbour that it can takes years to show up. I am constantly bloated, sometimes sick and run to the loo. I realised how many of the things I love to eat contain gluten. I think I will give it a go and cut it out. They say to do that for awhile, then reintroduce gluten again and see what reaction you get.I am convinced I will feel better for it. Thanks again all
