Me versus GP - update on prescription.

Ongoing battle just an update really.

Finally met with Practice Manager who booked me into a clinician nurse, who both agreed my level tsh of 4.4 (0.3-5.5) and T4 of 10 (last reading) (10.4 - 24.4) needed sorting. She upped my Thyroxine based on my symptoms as well as the levels of TSH and T4. From now on I'm taking 75mcg which is still low I know but it's a start!!! I've been on 50mcg for 2.5 years now with most symptoms making me miserable to say the least.

I did suggest me and the Consultant both won't be pleased if she turns around and says "why on earth didn't your GP simply try a higher dose?" I've had no 'tweaking' done whatsoever since day one.

I hope it begins to make a difference.

Thank you to ALL who told me to persevere, I did. I went in armed with Dr Toft and lots of valid evidence from this site but didn't need it. Was in and out in 10 mins. How can a GP put you through all that turmoil?? - REALLY lost faith in him now.

PR xx

Just seen this video on this site, which someone has posted on diagnosing from blood tests alone. Wish I had it ages ago. - hmmm might send it on to them. youtube.com/watch?v=eSwgUnd... ;)

Well done you for taking matters into your own hands and starting to get things put right, which I know isn't easy when you feel so ill.

Thank you, ironically my stress levels often shooted up knowing I was confronting a reluctant mind set. Now I can show them I've ticked off one stress big factor in my life!

I thought I was just being a pain in the a...se until I found this site. ;)

Hi PR, good for you trying to sort things out, its awful we get fobbed off. I felt the same as if I was a nuisance, and they just want to fob off and out the door.

I would come home very upset, and no further foreward, I wouldn't show gp how upset I was or they'd put that down to depression.

I felt like saying which come first chicken or egg, wouldn't you be bloody depressed pe. d off feeling ill all the time and being told bloods are ok so they don't need to do anything. Ggrr.
