Background.. I've prev posted my results (as below) and currently had my 50 mg of Levo reduced to 25mg after the 3rd test results as below. I have a multi noduled goiter which was diagnosed after Ultrasound scan. From reading info on this site, i will be asking my Dr if i have Hashimotoes disease, or is it Graves (based on 3rd test?)
at the moment i have been told underactive thyroid.
If i do have it, how long before my thyroid gets destroyed, does the Levo reverse any damage or just slow things down? What kind of timescale before it gives up the ghost, also by changing my diet now, will that help slow things down? Sorry for all the questions.

Hi there - I see you posted your results before and questioned if it could be Graves.
However a TSH of 12.2 would indicate Hypothryoid & high TPO antibodies usually indicates Hashimotos (remember we are not docs here just fellow sufferers).
As far as I'm aware nodules usually grow to make more hormone (mine did anyway and since it's gone, hyper symptoms gone too, well mostly). But yes, my ENT guy was confused which sort of autoimmune Thyroid prob it was... but Hashimotos can have periods of hyper and hypo activity. So... what are your symptoms? and are you feeling better on Levo?(results look as though it worked well).
Sorry I don't think anyone can say how long it takes for the Thyroid to calm down (or even give up) meanwhile you can help yourself by getting vitamins/minerals tested/sorted as these are affected too (Irons, ferritin, folate & B12 and Vit D for starters).
All the negs have all but gone on the 50 mg tabs yipee ...ie depression, anxiety for no reason, weight gain etc, only thing i'm left with is the insomia (hence i'm on here at this time and a bit foggy brained , although i have to say i wasn,t exactly the sharpest before , but i'm definately worse now ).
I got reduced to the 25 mg after the 3rd result.
Wonder why the doc didn,t say it was Hashimotoes when it looks as if the liklyhood is that it is, I want to start looking at changes in diet....anything that will help slow the process, but going from Hypo to Hyper i haven,t a clue what i should be eating
Tried some gluten free bread today and it was horrible, i normally only eat 1 slice of brown granary bread (Hovis) as it is, so i,m not sure if thats ok
Hi My TSH has been unmeasurable for many years, it was very low when i started treatment, I was originally treated on my very low FT3, my T4 also became low on armour ( no T3 then ). I cannot take levo ( T4). I have armour and a little T3 to be stable. Treatment was always on T4 and FT3 with TSH OK desirable You really desperately need your FT3 done,I have hashimotos and very enlarged thyroid + nodules.Low FT3 causes a lot of symptoms especially weight.
