Help please! I had my Paul Henderson lightbulb moment but now it's gone. I started T3 only 12 days ago and it was amazing.

The aching just disappeared until time for next dose. For the last three days, however, I have been aching again. It just seems to have stopped working! Am on 20 mcg, split 2 to 3 times a day. Meant to increase to 30 in two days, then 40 in another 2 weeks. I was so desperate yesterday I took another 10, ie 30, but it didn't help much. Any ideas please?.

I cannot answer your question but I know how disappointing it can be when you are hoping so much that another thyroid hormone will be the answer, especially when the first dose helped so much.

This is an excerpt from Dr Lowe re T3 and the question is dated July 5, 2000:-

But plain T3 in single doses enters cells in larger amounts. These larger amounts may provide the saturation needed to provoke transcription regulation by mutant T3-receptors. If so, these saturation amounts of T3 may induce waves of transcription that on the clinical level relieve symptoms of hypometabolism.

'hang in there'

not everyone feels the benefit of an increase the same day on T3, I don't for example, I never responded as quickly as some other people do. When people say 'I took an extra 5mcg and I felt better immediately' I really DO NOT know what they mean, I never experienced this!

keep the faith, keep increasing as you are meant to and don't lose hope x

Just another question, how much T3 have you eventually found right for you? Does it vary greatly between people. Am I likely to need much more than 40 before I settle? Many thanks!

Hi Hennerton,

some people only need 40mcg some like me need more, I take now 160mcg daily and I feel definitely very well with at least 125mcg, anything less I am quite 'hypo'. I am still increasing to get rid of 'tiny little' complaints which to be honest I could live with. Some of Dr Lowe's patients took up to 300mcg daily, however like I said, some are absolutely fine with small doses, we are all so different. x

No, T3 certainly wasn't a miracle for me either. In fact I feel no better on it at all. Still get palpitations, laboured breathing (seems to have increased --- have the lungs of someone 20yrs my junior), BO returned, itching, prolactin smell, feel tired and weak still. By the way, can't take T4 at all. So there is nothing the NHs can or will do for me. It'll be self help all the way now. But, don't know which way to go now.
