Anyone know of good Endo(NHS or private) in Edinburgh ?.

Long story but my Mum's GP keeping her grossly under-medicated. Don't know bloods as she won't get them. He is treating her purely by her bloods which he says are "perfect" !!!. For who I don't know as she has chronic symptoms. She has been Hypo for nearly 30 years stable on 200mcg then GP started reducing purely by bloods and no regard that she was well. GP will not entertain referral to DrS as has read about him on Internet. He wants to refer her to Edinburgh but will they not just adhere to these f*****g bloods too ?. Sorry for rant but I feel so helpless as I watch her health decline and there is nothing I can do. She is in total denial even though her hair is falling out and she is a shell of her former self,it breaks my heart. These GPs are causing misery and it is downright dangerous keeping her under-medicated due to their ignorance. When oh when will we get what we deserve. His blatant fear and ignorance of this disease is frightening. Thanks for listening xx :'-(

Can really identify with this. I would love to know, too - the last one I saw at the RIE was horrid.

ooo, can you email me the details please - I have a short, but rapidly growing list of 'Good' NHS endos, haven't got one in Scotland yet! :-) Thanks

Hi totoro, I found this question on my travels and would very much like you to tell me the name too. I used to see dr Toft there but I was discharged and have now been re-referred.

Just in case you haven't seen this video. We are hopeful it may bring some changes:-

It's awful to see someone fade away. I don't know how doctors cannot see she is getting worse.

Best wishes

Thanks it beggars belief when he acknowledges she is Hypo but unable to treat due to his lack of knowledge and wouldn't know how to monitor her wtf !!!. Iam so angry that if I hadn't gone through this myself and gained such knowledge from the site I dread to think what would've happened to her xx

From what I understand being on this site, most seem only to know only about diabetes - nothing at all about metabolism. As for Hypo - the guidelines laid down are - wait till TSH is 10 and take a dose of evo daily and job is done. Little do they know. Thankfully, through the internet and Thyroiduk I was able to get better.
