Need some ranges! TSH....?

TSH was apparently 6 yesterday. That was the only result they would give and that was reluctantly, it seems. Apparently thyroid was considered normal! The hospital doctors seem to be far from cooperative!

Here's the original thread from yesterday :)

Just asked junior doctor my TSH was less than 0.1

That's much less than the 6 you were quoted yesterday and is most definitely NOT normal!

Keep pushing! You are clearly hyperthyroid and it needs treating. This junior doctor sounds far more competent than the others!!!

Perhaps you could ask him why you are not being treated if your results are so clearly indicative of hyperthyroidism and you have been admitted to hospital with severe symptoms of hyperthyroidism.

Hope you have a better day today :)

Feeling for you Scarfed, when i had results similar to those Block & Replace was the only treatment that made me feel fairly normal.

That was arranged over the phone! After blood results II phoned Endos Secretary describing my symptoms and the Endo called me back.He then instructed GP what to prescribe.

I see you have had this treatment before.

It would be best if you consult an Endo from the Thyroid UK list but in meantime have you pleaded with your GP to get urgent attention from another NHS Endo or take instruction from one.

You know yourself with a TSH of 6 one time and now the above you urgently need full and proper investigation.

Hope this time some real progress will be made.

It would be best if you could give reference ranges (if you can get them) and your confirm your TSH. I seem to remember you said it was 6 yesterday which is a little high. Even without reference ranges your free T3 and T4 are very high which would certainly explain your symptoms. Normally with hyperthyroidism you would expect a low TSH with these T3 and T4 results which are far from normal! What was your doctor thinking?!?!? Given that your TSH is on the high side and your T3 and T4 are also high they should be looking at your pituitary.

Keep fighting, scarfred! Don't let them mess you about. You are clearly very unwell and your thyroid results look far from normal, even to a layperson like me!

Take care and please keep us updated

What an idiot the Endo was yesterday to say your thyroid was normal :( I hope you are feeling a bit better today and they are doing something to help you.
