A POSSIBLE CAUSE OF LOW D3......

Having received my blood results yesterday I was surprised to see that my D3 result was still around 36. I could sense the need to take a higher dose but am taking 1500 IU's x 2 as per the table on Grassroots - in an attempt to raise the level to 60 and beyond. Have been taking this dose for a year. Initially my result was in the 20's - so there has been an improvement.

Somewhere I had read that taking high doses of D3 was not always a good thing for those with Hashimotos and so a little research was needed. This information has possibly been posted before but on this occasion I do not make any apologies for repeating it....it seems we need good levels of magnesium. Blood tests are not helpful apparently. Symptoms of low magnesium may resonate with many people who are suffering a myriad of unsolved issues. You definitely need good levels for the VitD to be absorbed.

Hope this site works for one and all......

Very strange as a friend gave me some phials of liquid magnesium last Tuesday - we were doing yoga together and we both started to talk about magnesium when we had cramp. It came into my life again for a reason obviously.....synchronicity at work once more !......

Thanks for this Marz ! After vega testing the homeopath said that my VitD 800iu endo prescribed tablets were compromising my other meds ; T3: NAX : NA: Ferrous Guconate ;Vit C and B12 and advised to reduce Vit D and to visit the sun (HA HA).

Then grass roots suggests I am undermedicated on D3: maybe magnesium is the answer !?!?

Have done my walk in the sun - by the time I was dressed it was hiding behind the clouds -have sat with my SAD lamp - doesn't improve Vit D but on Day 2 of trial. Now reading specs on or perhaps I should get ready for my 2 hours in work?

Have been reading the link with interest as it could be the possible answer to my arrythmia problems. If you take VitD (which I did last June in HUGE quantities on orders from my GP) and do not take magnesium with it, it can cause arrythmia's and looking back the heart palps started around the same time so maybe you have solved my problems Marz.

Am now looking into bath salts to see if they help. Dont think it worth getting a blood test done as they seem as accurate as the TSH test for thyroid results

Thanks for the link.

Glad it was of help. I'm taking it in liquid form - which may be easier to absorb. Enjoy luxuriating in the bath salts when you get them !.......x

This is a link to Dr Myhill and one of her recommendations is epsom salts in bath. Her site is very informative

drmyhill.co.uk/

and this is the link re minerals

This is a link to Amazon for epsom salts as you would need a larger amount than available in shops, I think.
