Hi I just started the T3CM 6 days ago and I dose at 4.30 am. My heart rate upon waking is 78 and 36.3 temp. I'm taking one and quarter of Armour thyroid. I can't take anymore for the rest of day as it wipes me out due to no adrenal support. I was on 25mcg HC but YAY got off it. Yikes that stuff!!!! but what I want to know is do I need to do anymore dosing through out the day or just morning dose.? thanks Oh I am 58

I think Ideally you should.....

the whole CT3M thing is about dosing when your body needs it....ie taking BP/Pulse/Temperature every couple of hours or at least just before you dose and 2 hours post-dosing and when you feel you may need a dose, write down in a diary the results.

Many on CT3M who dose at 4:30 like you would end up having another dose around 11am-ish then 3 to 4 pm.

However try and do what you can do, I mean, you have done SO WELL to come off HC, give yourself a big pat on the back :)

The daily doses can be tiny by the way to begin with ie: a quarter of a grain or so.

If the 4:30am dose has improved your heart rate/temp/pulse then when you are ready try to increase it very slightly.

PS just for the forum guidelines: I am not telling you how much to self medicate, I don't even know if you are self medicating, are under the 'eye' of a doctor or what total dose you are meant to be on daily, please only take the amount of NDT (Armour) that you are meant to take and do not take anymore just because of my 'schedule example above'.

Hi ElainedeBeaux - I'm not sure anyone on this site will have the knowledge to answer this question I'm afraid :(

I am doing CT3M myself but was lucky to feel better pretty quickly, without having to do much adjusting. I am taking 1 grain at 5am. I started with half a grain at 5.30am (as I'm very sensitive to meds) but got no response, so tried 1 grain and got too much of a response, so settled on 3/4 of a grain. I carried on with this for about 5 months until I thought I'd give 1 grain another try and this time it was OK. I am taking 2.25 grains in total over the day now.

I think it is usual to start on one grain one and a half hours before you wake up and then asses the response that you get in terms of symptoms, temperature, pusle and blood pressure. You can then titrate both the time and dose. Have you had a saliva cortisol test done indicating low cortisol in the morning?

I found the STTM T3 only group very helpful as there is a lot of experience with CT3M there and Paul Robinson and Janie Alexander Bowthorpe are often around

Here is a link to the group:

facebook.com/#!/groups/T3on...

It is a closed group and you have to ask to join. The approval process usually takes a few days.

Thank you for your help. you were wonderful.I dose 4.30 as I can't go back to sleep straight away, so I'm getting not racing heart and temp was 36.3 so Yay its going up. At least I'm off that HC.I can't dose during the day as I get too dizzy so my dosing will have to be only in the morning. I know you need steady T3 throughout the day, but can't do it. I heard Paul Robinson say usually people are doing just once a day in the early morning. However, I do see others dose through out the day.I don't do blood pressure as that thing makes me anxious and I'm sure it would go up, even though I have low blood pressure but not too low. So I'll press on and raise next week to one and three quarters and just pray my heart won't race. I want for my own confidence to be on 2 grains as Broda Barnes says that patients on 2 grains never had a heart attack. That is my history genetically, so I'm trying to avoid. But time will tell. Many thanks

As you increase your early morning dose and hopefully improve your adrenals, you may find that you can take a dose during the day. It would be worth keeping trying with this I think, although some people do successfully dose just once a day. xx

Clarebear please could you help me again. My temp 4.30 dose when I wake is 36.5 consistently. I'm not feeling that great during the day now so I know I need more t3. Do I increase the morning by quarter grain or try during the day. I'm already feeling tired as waking at 3 am and cant get back til after my 4.30 dose. Im not waiting for the 4.30 dose just cant go back. My weights going up again.as came off 3 grains armour and HC. But that made my heart race, so started the T3CM and know I need to increase somewhere. Thankyou for being the best support forum for me anyway.
