If you inject B12 sub cue, does it get absorbed as well as intra muscular injections?.

I self inject my own amps but NHS GP today told me, when i asked for some needles and syringes (since i am a taxpayer who has been forced to fund myt own NDT thus need to keep costs down!) it should not be injected sub cue because it will not be absorbed.

Based on past experience i pretty much disregard anything any NHS GP tells me, but i have found i am exhausted since switching to sub cue even tho i'm now injecting almost weekly as i'm so exhausted.

Any views?

Yes. He might just be right. I think that perhaps you ought to consult the Pernicious Anaemia Society on this one. I seem to remember from browsing there as a member, that there are some other things to be considered when injecting sub cue. Head over to the experts on

pernicious-anaemia-society.org

There is a leaflet by a doctor member on self injecting available from them plus some of the moderators self inject and could help you.

Are your folate levels OK?

There are different 'opinions' out there, even on the pernicious anaemia society forum some swear by subcutaneous some by intramuscular.

It is 'not true' that subcutaneously it is not absorbed, that is why Dr Myhill recommends subcutaneous to her patients.

(ps she talks about MS on that page, but she recommends subcut to other patients too, I am one of those and I do not have MS)

However some people may prefer intramuscular.

I think you should recover from your latest 'obstacle' in your life and then evaluate what you think is best for you once you've been over this hurdle? xxx

Thanks both. I 'm pretty desperate as my job is on the line here, i may revert to IM just to see if it helps because i'm out of options. I'm too tired to do loads of research so was just looking for some quick answers

Blue, have you discarded the idea of using sublinguals? I see you can get a very large dose now and I've read a few testimonials that it's effective at raising levels.
