Hashi and hypoglycemia

Hi everyone, I have recently been diagnosed with hashis, had thyroid problems for last 10 years or so, I am on 25 mg of levothyroxine and recently have been getting really bad hypoglycemia symptoms in fact it's got so bad that if I don't eat every 2 hours I have a funny turn! I daren't eat chocolate, or anything sugary, after a meal I'm very sleepy etc could this be a temporary side effect of starting levo? Been on them just over 4 weeks?

Any advice will be gratefully received.

Thanks

I have Hashimoto's too and experienced hypoglycaemia episodes when my adrenals were particularly bad. It might be worth doing a saliva test to see if your adrenals are optimal. Do you have any other symptoms?

Hi it is auto immune so means you are liable to have other auto immune diseases. i am thinking especially of Diabetes, it could still be border line but you should follow a diabetes diet. make sure you have been tested for Glucose and the more important test, Hb A1cAlso it does take a long time to be treated at the optimum, it should be slowly with frequent blood tests. Make sure your FT3 had been tested as you may well need T3 too. It can go worse before improving properly.

Thanks for the replies, sorry if this is a really stupid question but what exactly does adrenals being bad mean?

I have a few symptoms, headaches, hot flushes, tremors all over, palpitations, feeling faint, dizzy spells, fuzzy eyes , snappy (grumpy), tingly lips, there's probably more but that's off the top of my head!

My last glucose test was fine as was hbA1 test, I don't think I have had my ft3 tested?

Thanks again

Your adrenal glands sit atop your kidneys and regulate cortisol. Too much cortisol gives a fight or flight response. Too little would be the opposite. Many seem to think that internal shivers are a signal of adrenal disfunction. There is a saliva test for this.

Thank you i dudnt know that! I mentioned to my doctor today and she looked at me very blankly and said your kidneys are fine?? Im so fed up with feeling ill, she has put me in anti acid tablets that my allergist suggested yesterday she said this should help with the blood sugar issues also i cannit shuft my uti its now in its 4th week and im on stringer antibiotics

I must of done something reslly bad in a previous life!!

Thanks again x
