hi there im a newbie,im confused about t3 and t5,how do i know if i need this?and can you get it in the uk?many thanks :)
Hi
I'm not sure what T5 is.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
Symptoms, thyroid test results, diagnosis, and meds that you are on etc etc
All of this information will help people to better offer support.

Everyone is Different....
dreadlockP - Welcome! you probably meant T4 (Levo thyroxine) it's what GPs usually prescribe for Hypothyroid symptoms. Have you looked at the main TUK site here? (this HU bit is the support group) have a read ..

If you can get your latest blood test results folks can chip in to help (just ask the receptionist for a print out) and just let us know your symptoms

Hi If you do not feel that your thyroid is OK on just T4 , then it is best to have a Free T3 test , a thyroid hormone, if the test is well below top of range or maybe just a litlle below you may need a script of T3. The normal dose, especially to start with is 20mcg. It is best to split in half and take the 10mcg about 12 hours apart, You may be one of the ones who do not need T3 but the blood test is the best way of knowing. If the gP will not test for FreeT3 ( cost) then there are other ways of getting tested
