Hi Theresa,
I can't really offer any advice but can say that I have very similar symptoms. I have Graves and am on Propylthyuracil and Thyroxine. Apparently my thyroid levels are now normal but I have shortness of breath and anxiety attacks on a regular basis. I never had them before I started treatment. I'm not sure if its the meds or the Graves? I was prescribed beta blockers but I'm a single mum to a 6 year old and they zonk me out totally so not an option. I would be pleased to hear if anyone has any advice for either of us x
When you say your thyroid levels are 'normal', do you know whereabouts in the range they are? What is normal for one, isn't always normal for another, so eg if the FT4 range is 9-24 and you have a blood test result of 10, then you could be quite hypothyroid if your regular levels for you are 22!
As for shortness of breath, light headedness, dizziness and panic attacks, yes they can be some of the many signs/symptoms of hypothyroidism.
Also, some patients have low FT3 levels which are very rarely monitored within the NHS.
Hi kimbo, I have Graves disease, now hypothyroid after having radiation treatment, sometimes the panic attacks actually wake me from a deep sleep at night they are so bad and can last all day at times. I have also become a sufferer of OCD really bad depression and constantly anxious it has changed my life dramatically. I don't feel light headed but have severe headaches most days and my head feels full and pressured and it even effects my hearing horrible. I don't know what to advise you I wish we knew the answers we would all feel better. all I can suggest is have you spoken to your endo about it all?
Wish you better hugs Sandie x
hi all thanks for replying, have spoke to gp recently and he has said that when i had my last blood test i had high white cells, showing an infection somewhere, he suggested i have an antibodies test done and i have also asked for T3, my blood test showed that i dont have a problem with my adrenals (even though i have done a private saliva test0 and this has showed that i have adrenal insufficiency, will keep you posted x
