Is there a link between underactive thyroid and inflamed joints

I have had an underactive thyroid and been on thyroxine for about 20 years, I've also suffer from bursitis in my hips for many years, and I do wonder if there is a link with my thyroid problem

A lot of people have bad joints ,carple tunnel, tennis elbow ,tendernitus ,it seems par for the course with this ,have you tried a tens machine for the pain ,i have just bought one for my back and done my 1st ironing for months using it ,they are not to expensive ,about £30 ~£40 ,so well worth a try .Jan

I agree, there is every reason to suspect a link between the two, especially if you're actually not on a dose of thyroxine that is suitable for you. How often does the bursitis recur and how do you deal with it?
Over the last 5 years I have had injections, physio, and taken anti inflamitories all with mixed effect, but eventually the problems return with vengence!! I am now unable to take the anti inflamitories as they have damaged my stomach!!!
