I just received my new order. The seller has replaced my usual brand with Euthyrox without informing me. I have read horror stories about how it stopped working for people after they added mannitol. In France, Merck even had to bring the old formula back. It seems many patients saw their TSH increase and free T4 drop on it. I am not sure it would be a good idea to even try it. Has anyone here taken the new Euthyrox without your health deteriorating?

Has anyone successfully used reformulated Euthyrox?

You say “the seller”
Am I to assume this is a private source?
How is that relevant to my question?
It may not be relevant. The seller I use stopped stocking it for some reason and says it’s not now available.
That’s all.
Old post - but may be of interest.

Interesting! Yes, I think I should avoid even trying Euthyrox. I cannot find one single report of it working for anyone.
It doesn’t sound as though it’s a recent reformulation though.
No, it’s from 2020 or 2021. I have used other brands (Unipharma, Levotiron) but all legit sellers have disappeared. I then found Berlthyrox, a German brand, which also worked well, but now it is also unavailable. It seems only Euthyrox/Eutirox is available without a prescription now.
I complained, and am told by seller that Berlthyrox (by Berlin Chemie) has recently been reformulated to contain mannitol so identical to Euthyrox. helvella , I know you have a list somewhere, have you heard of this?
Sounds very questionable to me. The 2020 product information (which was the same in 2013 - so no changes in all those years) says (in German):
Die sonstigen Bestandteile sind:
CalciumhydrogenphosphatDihydrat, Mikrokristalline
Cellulose, Carboxymethylstärke Natrium (Typ A)
(Ph. Eur.), Dextrin (aus Maisstärke), langkettige Partial
glyceride
By automatic translation that is:
The other ingredients are:
Calcium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, sodium carboxymethyl starch (type A)
(Ph. Eur.), dextrin (from corn starch), long-chain partial glycerides
So, no lactose, no mannitol. Why on earth would they change to include a questionable excipient?
However, I have no special access. Changes could have occurred since 2020. But German pharmacies are generally quite good at updating the information they make available. And 2020 is the most recent I can find. If there has been a change, I suspect it would have to have been within the past few months for it not to have appeared on German sites.
I'd ask for evidence before believing them. Like a copy of the product documentation which clearly says it contains mannitol. Seems that mannitol is Mannit in German.
I found an official site where it says Berlthyrox was reformulated in early 2022 and its name was changed to L-Thyrox BC. Below from Google translate (I guess that since I have been taking Berlthyrox, they have been selling the old version which is no longer available):
The excipients calcium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate, dextrin (from corn starch), sodium glycolate, and long-chain partial glycerides have been replaced with cysteine hydrochloride monohydrate, pregelatinized starch, corn starch, magnesium oxide, and talc. The active ingredient, levothyroxine sodium, remains unchanged.
