Thought I may have got a call or be able to speak to Gp as record showed make a call following my result. They do a two week routine call when ch reception said mine was down as,but because of Easter will be 2.5 weeks, I feel so low on this alternate day dose of 25mcg Levothyroxine so only route left was to put in a repeat request as running low anyway whereby I was able to add a note requesting daily 25mcg then increase after a couple weeks. Will await reply if it gets read. If over weekend still feel rubbish may do an e-consult on Monday at the 8 am dash.

thanks for everyone’s input.

This is awful and 25mcg is a very low dose.

Yes definitely push, I had one experience early in my diagnosis when I messaged the online triage thing saying ‘I am not coping ‘ I don’t know why I said those words as I’m generally very capable but was at a very low ebb.

Anyway it worked wonders, had a locum GP agree to a trial of next dose 50mcg with quick phone consult.

It’s perfectly acceptable to say you can’t manage the next 2 weeks like this. Good luck 🤞 imagine all 200,000 + of us behind you rooting for you and take strength 🙏

Thank you so much, can’t believe how low was feeling especially after calling the practice, still am to be honest , I’ve got a about 8 levothyroxine 25mcg left so going to take them daily from tomorrow either way as still no update on my med request. I do tend to play down my probs, and hearing a likeminded individual really helps you don’t know how much. Big thank you!

I find it helps if I channel Mrs Thatcher but you may not be old enough to do this! Cool, calm, take no sh!t.

I said to myself yesterday as I walked into the dentist "big girls knickers on!". It helps.

Lol I’m certainly old enough for Maggie 😀

Feeling more in control today so good reading other people’s posts. Downside I've been constantly looking at my nhs app to check if ok’d my repeat prescription with my added note as usually pretty quick but nought so far, must try to not get so anxious as I’m driving everyone nuts. Definitely big girl pants come Monday. 😂

Yes definitely try to be assertive and say that you need help with this, as this low dose is not helping and your symptoms are getting worse. Certainly don't downplay your problems, you need to make a big noise and shake them up a bit, as this is really not on! And it seems that they only listen, if people kick up a stink!

So definitely big girl pants and a good dose of Maggie!!😂👍😉

What a palava!

I was unable to speak to a Dr until Tuesday having missed the cutoff time on Monday to get my econsult in. They still hadn’t acknowledged or acted upon my repeat prescription for the every other day 25mcg levo, with footnote requesting every day then upping dose after a month if possible. The repeat prescription had not been acknowledged from Friday and was now Tuesday. I was getting desperate and very anxious & I managed to get econsult on time 8am expressing my frustration, depression low mood, and all my usual fatigue symptoms, aching, hot feet at night, worsened anxiety caused by a 2.5 week wait to speak to Gp so I could get prescription dose possibly increased. The call back came later from a different newly qualified Dr who said I could have daily 25mcg no higher & a blood test in 3months time to check how it was going. I cross questioned reason so low dose said due to age!needed to guard against any heart problems, none I have ever had. He said he would have to reject my prescription request for every day 25mcg & upping to 50mcg/25mcg alternating after a month. He would do a new prescription for 25mcg daily and if I didn’t notice an improvement in 2 weeks to get in touch as must be something else?, I replied could it not be the dose is too low? He just reiterated we’ll look into other problems? If I wasn’t improving in 2 weeks with next blood test in 3months to check, not 6-8 weeks. I requested Vitamin check B12 etc was quite a long conversation back & forth me saying could it not be that I’m under medicated but he wouldn’t have that. Kept mentioning to call 111 f I had mental health thoughts, was exasperated and worn out by the end. Why is it such a battle to be involved in and proactive in own health, knowing your own symptoms which actually saves the nhs later down the line. Should have the new prescription tomorrow 👍wasn’t ready today😂

Thanks for all your support

Goodness let’s hope you get someone different next time. He clearly skipped the one afternoon lesson on Thyroid in his many years of medical study 🤦🏽‍♀️

Well done following it up and persisting.

Plan a repeat performance for 2 weeks time requesting trial of 50mcg with retest in 8 weeks. Keep persisting. Let them look at ‘everything else’. Meanwhile a trial please etc. You will eventually get what you need.

Request an endocrinology referral if they continue this nonsense.

Hugs 🤗

PS it’s a bank holiday in 2 weeks so plan for the Thursday or following Tuesday x

PPS your previous post linked below shows you have autoimmune TPO antibodies present, he should be following NICE guidelines and titrating you up to 1.6mcg per kg body weight or there abouts (rough guide only). Increasing every 6-8 weeks, you have grounds to question this newly qualified doc via practice manager, just quote NICE guidelines and ask for a second opinion.
