Blood test after a cold?

Hi everyone,

I'm supposed to have a blood test this week, but I've been sick with a coldthe last week and a bit, just about finishing up now. The thing is, as I understand it, being sick can effect your thyroid levels as the body naturally down regulates when you're ill.

So my question is, should I put off my blood test to get a more accurate picture of how things are? And if so how long does it take to get back to 'normal'?

Many thanks!

If possible, I would leave it a couple of weeks after having cold/ flu before re-testing thyroid levels. If you are having an advanced test including CRP, a viral infection may also elevate CRP for a few weeks.

Oh, ok, thanks, I was hoping to just put it off for one week, but two might be better.
